Last team with a No. 1 goalie spot open... Neuvirth may be looking better to #Isles tomorrow. - Vukota
Well that's good news. Happy to keep Neuvirth as a backup. |

They aren't paying hickey 2 million a year to be an extra sorry - Vukota
That's sort of the point. Now you have a supposed stopgap locked into the 6 spot for three years at a salary that almost guarantees he won't be an extra. I'm not really sure what you guys see in him...dime a dozen and easily replaceable with expendable d-men we've probably never even heard of. |

Man, I'm back for one day and disagreeing with everyone. I know people were pointing to his .918 on the Sabres or whatever...but heck, Lindback had better numbers in his 16 games with the Sabres. Maybe it was more just flipping the 35th to 50th shots on net by the other team while protecting leads that padded the stats or something, because I didn't see much at all to get excited about in Neuvirth's Isles' starts. I'll take him over Poulin, but wouldn't at all mind someone else. |

I think he is better what he showed. He came over at the deadline was probably a little nervous and didn't really know anybody. I think after a full offseason with them and knowing some of the guys now he'll be a little more relaxed. He'll most likely sign cheap and you can always move him if he struggles like they did with Johnson last year, plus who knows Snow might have his eyes on somebody else |

Hopefully!
I'm not all that worried about a backup goalie though...there seem to be more capable backups than available jobs these days, so it shouldn't be that hard to find one if it doesn't work out with Neuvirth. |

I'm not saying they will lose, but I sure want to avoid it at all costs. Do we really want to take a chance and go through another 1st round exit again next year? - ses111
We lost by one goal in a series that was a coin flip.. I want to improve the team but you can't trash the present and the future because your fan base is butt hurt becaus they haven't won a playoff series in 22 years. They will improve the team because of they don't win a playoff series then they out of jobs |

Mostly agree...especially about not dismantling everything for quick fixes. But it's not all about the one-goal loss in game 7. The team didn't look all that good through the entire second half of the season. I know the point total was nice, but it was almost all the result of how they played in the first three months (which feels weird to say as an Isles fan!). If we're not going to talk about coaching, then we're left to talk about tweaking the roster and icing probably a better team than we'd otherwise need in order to get a better result.
The one goal you're talking about may well have gone in our favor had we held onto home ice instead of free falling into the playoffs. |

You can't just discount the first half and put all the emphasis on the second half either. Plus we lost our best Dman and two others by the time game 7 came along |

I hope that wasn't even a thought as far as Snow goes. We've had some seriously bad decisions on his part thankfully work out for us like players rejecting offers, being resigned, etc. Believe me Snow has made even me more a fan than a critic(minus Capuano, that defies explanation) at this point but he still seems prone to do super stupid poop sometimes. |

I can't wait for next year when people complain about the obstructed views after buying obstructed view seats!
hopefully that season ticket number keeps climbing. Team should get some support with where they are now and hopefully continuing to get better.
