i guess weve officially entered the "blowing minor signings out of proportion" part of the offseason. hickey for 2 years is no big deal...as a 6/7/8th dman, hes fine. lets move on. - LetsGoIsles
I just don't want to see him or Strait on the ice, ever again, especially not in the playoffs. |

It happened right after I left. Apparently one of the younger posters, JB, snapped and started posting gay porn gifs, and flipping out. - mdw7413
Yeah, that nimrod posted that here, too. |

I'm gonna say it again id like to sign Justin Williams. Good cup experience he's only 33 I think, and is still great in the playoffs. On d I would love to add odyua. Thoughts? Can we even afford both for one year or two? Have to think with lee, Nelson, strome next season, ko. Lots of people still to pay. |

gotta elaborate on that....is he not fine "as a 6/7/8th dman"? i dont think hell be leaping JB, NL, TH, CDH, RP anytime soon.... - LetsGoIsles
He'd be fine if he were making $800,000 per season. But you don't want to pay your depth d-men $2,000,000 per season. Gotta take the cap into account.... |

Remember our defensemen, other than Hamonic, prior to last season? I found action photos...
Carkner and Strait...

Nope. Hickey isnt worth 2-2.5 a yr. Is what it is hopefully he progresses and improves but I feel what we see is what we get from him. If it was one year id be happier but I dont see him signing a one year contract |

Yeah, I don't get bringing him back, let alone for multiple years making millions of dollars. I can't think of anything he does particularly well...definitely a couple of things that are not necessarily bad, but he excels at nothing. And I'm tired of watching him being shooed away like a gnat every time he's caught out of position and then tries to compensate. Once a player gets position on him, there's zero chance he's going to make up for it with a good strong play. |

Im under the impression its 2yrs = $2-2.5 total not per, if he makes/sniffs $2m per, than its a lousy contract bc that money could be spent more wisely..... |

Islanders had the 3rd best draft IMO (behind Edmonton and Buffalo because of McEichel). Garth did a hell of a job, amazing to think he was thought to be getting fired not too long ago. Barzal at 16 might be the steal of the first round, still in shock Boston didn't take him. Getting Pilon in the 5th is also a great pick. Garth getting 2 first rounders when his highest pick was 72 (his fault btw) was remarkable. Barzal will look amazing on the wing with JT, hes got electric speed. |

What was his fault? Trading that 2nd rd pick for Boychuk? Yeah he gambled on the vanek trade and lost the 1st but stealing Boychuk & Leddy more then made up for it |
