I think if the Sabres could get a top line RWer that would help Moulson tremendously
a 2nd line of Moulson, Eichel and Ennis - Stripes77
We're in a small group of Kessel fans here. |

I'm so very relieved Cody got waived. Was beginning to worry that he wouldn't be. Praise be. |

Yes but isn't one of McCabe/Ruhwedel expected to play with Buffalo full-time in 2 seasons? Don't mind the veteran help, just don't want to sign someone to an expensive deal only to have them take up a young guys ice time. - BleedBlueGold
I think they're expecting McCabe to be ready next year. Technically he could handle it this year but another year being the top dog in Rochester is probably better for his overall development. |

Ah.. Okay.. So I beleive I read something that Cody's cap hit for this year would be something like 1.7 million? So sense the website isn't updated yet.. I'm guessing the Sabres will need to spend around 5.11 million to get to the cap floor.
Figure all the RFA deals plus the additions of Eichel Reinhart to the roster should equal around 2.5 million? maybe 3? |

At that point we can always release or trade them if they are past playing ability.. But to be realistic if you want someone who can be a top 4 D man for next few years you'll have to give them a longer contract than 2 years. |

Anyone here give them the 2016 1st? - TheSabresTaco
F*ck no!
Lazy, locker room issues, doesn't play defense
We don't just need good players,
We need the RIGHT ones |

I don't see Murray making a move for him just because of the your second sentence. Doesn't fit in with the personality type he seems to target.
In some ways, I agree with that and in others I don't. Any player that can improve your teams game on the ice should be looked at in some form. Doesn't mean he has to get it done, but kicking the tires should at least be. |

I'd easily take Kessel for Foligno, Bailey, 1st next year, I just think it's too little. It'd be nice to have him but I think the cost would include one of our blue chips and at this point I'd rather stay the course than give them up. |

Agreed, and if the cost is right and it frees up some much needed roster spots, I would do it! |

I agree, we definitely shouldn't be pushing him into the NHL if he's not ready. Another year won't hurt.
Does anyone have an idea of what Ruhwedel's projection is? From the times he played with us I don't recall any major strengths/ or problems... But it's been awhile. |

Depends on how badly the Leafs want him gone. |

I feel like we would have to include Ennis in that trade, not that I would want to do that... |

He would be the Mogilny type player
A strictly one dimensional player that would turn around the PP as well
I really think his attitude would turn around playing with good youth players on a team that has a real direction |

It all depends on how bad the Leafs want to move him.

Ruhwedel has a good amount of offense to his game. He's not a big, bruising kind of guy but he does a good job of coming out of the corners with the puck. Pretty smooth skater, decent first pass.
There's nothing overly spectacular about his game for the most part but he's good at getting things done. He's sort of similar to Pysyk but with a little more offense and not as good of a skater. |

I don't remember where I read this today but apparently the Oilers turned their attention to Talbot on Saturday after missing out on Lehner

Im fully convinced that the reason out PP defense sucked was due to the fact the PK'ers only had to worry about point shots and would not really worry about the forwards.
You get better forwards and it frees up your defense. Your PP scoring should in theory go up. |

That's what I think too. To trade him to a division rival I feel like the conversation starts with Ennis, Risto, or Reinhart and that's where it ends with us. |

Hodgson is waived - Slump Buster
Damn it
I think we all knew it was likely to happen
I just hate giving away guys for nothing
If we could've got him scoring again this year I'm sure we could've got a decent pick for him at the deadline |
