Ruhwedel has a good amount of offense to his game. He's not a big, bruising kind of guy but he does a good job of coming out of the corners with the puck. Pretty smooth skater, decent first pass.
There's nothing overly spectacular about his game for the most part but he's good at getting things done. He's sort of similar to Pysyk but with a little more offense and not as good of a skater. - HonkFortheGoose
I don't hate the idea of Ruhwedel as the 6/7 guy this year but I bet he's in Rochester |

Damn it
I think we all knew it was likely to happen
I just hate giving away guys for nothing
If we could've got him scoring again this year I'm sure we could've got a decent pick for him at the deadline - jdfitz77
Or he wouldn't rebound cause he would be on the fourth line because there isn't a place to play him and then to buy him out his cap hit would be double because he would be a year older... |

Yea the right ones.... Who are they again? - ImThatGuy
I want guys that are more than just offensive skill
Let me put it this way...
Shannahan (one of my fav players back in the day) and Babcock BOTH want him gone...
To the point that they're willing to pay 2mil of his salary just to get rid of him
Yet some of the armchair GMs in here want him?
I'll side with the best coach in the NHL & Shanny on this one

Yeah, I was just asking for a couple of years down the road, just because it seems like the consensus is that McCabe is more ready than he is. Just wondering what good Ruhwedel will bring for the Sabres in the future. |

It is a shame though. We know he's capable of being a serviceable player. Timing wise it had to be done. But I wouldn't doubt he goes to another team somewhere and puts up much more respectable numbers this year. |

he is at best going to be a #7 in the nhl... i don't really think he is going to get any better or have that high of a ceiling. given the choice i would bring him up and let McCabe continue to mature in the AHL because he has a higher ceiling |

I'm going to play devil's advocate here...
It could be that they want to move him to help speed things along in terms of rebuilding the team. He's going to get a nice chunk for them to work with back in return. He's their most valuable player, whether you want to believe it or not. That means that he's going to get the most back in a trade.
It's no different than us trading Vanek, Pommer or Miller when they were moved. |

Oh, I know. Going into the weekend, I wasn't sure if they would. But once they made the trades they did, I fully expected it. |

Remember, they don't want him on THEIR TEAM. That doesn't mean he won't do well elsewhere. I don't even want the guy but just because Babcock and Shannahan don't want him on the Leafs doesn't make him redundent. |

That's what I think too. To trade him to a division rival I feel like the conversation starts with Ennis, Risto, or Reinhart and that's where it ends with us. - Zschalberg
And their biggest division rival, at that. To me if that's the case, the price is too high. If it's Foligno and prospects/picks, I'm listening, though I'd rather not give up too many more prospects... |

I think he easily can be a 5/6 and slot into the 4 spot for injuries. You haven't really seen much of him though have you? |

That's true too
Def was not an ideal situation
He'll move on & score 20 for someone
Wouldn't be surprised if it's Arizona
Down to 14 nhl forwards now
13 if Reinhart starts in Rochester |

chad? just his time in Buffalo.. i guess i just don't get a vibe that he has a whole lot left in him. He is a steady guy who can be helpful to teams during the course of a season |

Remember when the bruins didnt want Joe Thrornton or Tyler Seguin or Dougie Hamilton on their team.
The AVS didnt want ROR on their team.
Not all players who "Are not wanted" are because they are not good.

I don't think we get to be that. They might be our biggest rival but I would think Montreal would be their biggest. But I could be wrong, where are the Toronto commenters when we need their opinions?
That being said, trading with them wouldn't be easy |

I don't see Murray making a move for him just because of the your second sentence. Doesn't fit in with the personality type he seems to target.
In some ways, I agree with that and in others I don't. Any player that can improve your teams game on the ice should be looked at in some form. Doesn't mean he has to get it done, but kicking the tires should at least be. - HonkFortheGoose
I'm not discounting his skill, he can certainly score goals
He's just not a winner
Dude pretty much quit the last half of last year
There's just WAY too many negatives with him |
