I know he's a RHD but I like the idea of Sustr. He's big, skates well and looked comfortable in high pressure situations. As for UFA's I agree with most that Martin or Oduya would be good fits at around 5M for 3 years. Anything more than 3 years for an older/ expensive D-man doesn't work for the cap long term.

Not sure what Bieksa has left. I never really watched him play to begin with but I read a rumor on Spector's that he'd be willing to waive to come to Buffalo. Apparently we are close to his home town. I'm pretty sure that was all speculation though.

I guess the only one they qualified that would deem as a surprise would be Lieuwen.

Yeah, Lieuwen, where the heck is he going to play?

Was thinking the same thing. Is he even a decent goalie for Rochester?

Doubtful. It will probably be Makarov as the starter in Rochester.

Hello Gents. Been off the grid the past few days so couldnt comment on the ROR move.

You got one hell of a player in ROR and a decent throw in with McGinn. I like the Avs haul as well. I think it was a fair deal for both sides.

Now ROR will have the chance to put up or shut up with that contract. You can afford to pay him, Avs could not.

I think he will do well in Buff

Wonder why we bothered to keep him around then... Guess it's better to have too many goalies than not enough?

You and I talked about ROR and thought by Sakic's comments he was staying. I guess not. Good hockey trade. Zadorov is the piece Sakic wanted.

I thought he was going to stay based on the comments all season. But when pushed came to shove, I think he wanted the pressure, the leadership, and the contract. The Avs just couldn't give him that.

Im excited about Zads, it makes the D-Core rebuild that much more realistic now.

Compher is a nice piece too. Not so jacked about Grigo but hey if anyone can get him to be a NHL regular, its Roy

Compher might fit into your bottom 6 when he's ready and who the (frank) knows about Grigorenko lol. We're ecstatic about ROR and I even like McGinn a ton, gonna love his power forward game, getting his nose in the opposition and getting into the dirty areas. Win-win.

Grigo is a (frank)ing wild card but whatever, he will be the 3rd line C to start the season, Hes Roys boy and will get to play with some good wingers in Tanguay and Everberg, they got some good pieces. 31 turned into the 39 and their own 2nd next year from the Sharks which was huge.

They were wanted Dougie, and were close to getting him in a trade. Now rumblings the Avs might offer sheet him to get back at the Flames since they now have their own picks back next year.

The Bruins roster has turned into Saved By The Bell, because it has Zac and Kelly and Torey and it's not really funny anymore.

Piss off Calgary, I love it.

I added to my previous post about McGinn.

you will love McGinn, hes a hard working guy. A bit of stone hands so that will frustrate you, always feels like he should be scoring more.

His best offensive year with on a line with ROR & Dutch. So having him on RORs wing wouldnt be a bad idea to start.

Sucks to let him go but he probably would have been too expensive of a UFA for the Avs.

Compher is going to surprise people IMO.

Won't he a big scorer, but will annoy the hell out of the other team and can really skate

Basically just a smaller McGinn, really an instant replacement for him since he probably was gone in 2016 as well.

And I was ok with moving McGinn since we stole him from the Sharks by giving them TJ Galiardi

I think we see McGinn slotted as a 3rd line winger, considering the forward depth we have now. Hopefully his back is ok but I heard he was playing in a charity golf tournament so it must be fine lol. Good to know that he had some chemistry with ROR.

Sabres give qualifying offers to D'Amigo, Larsson, Leduc, Lieuwen, Pysyk, Schaller, Varone. They do not for Dalpe, Sundher, Samuels-Thomas.

- metzeric

Not sure why on lieuwen. Seems odd we now have him, makarov and ullmark in roch? Unless ullmark is back to Europe or lieuwen is in the ECHL. But niether make sense

his back shouldn't be an issue, he was close to coming back last year but with the Avs out of the playoff position, there really wasn't any reason for him to rush his back just to play 6 games.

I wouldnt be worried about that with him.

McGinn is the ideal 3rd winger, pain to play against and if injuries happen in your Top 6, you dont worry about slotting him up for short term

We have a pretty solid bottom 6. Now we need the top to mature and the defense/goalie to figure out what they are doing.

He has more talent than McGinn. I remember in his draft year seeing him mocked to us at 16 where we picked Zadorov.

I actually think if he pans out he could be a Callahan/Gallagher type of player
