I don't know man
Saad
Kane
Jones
Lehner
O'Reilly
Hamilton
Those are some big name youngins - sbroads24
I was talking about the Sabres in particular as I thought you were speaking about...league wide this is a different type of year because of the fear of offer sheets which were never this big a factor before. Maybe draft picks are losing their value or more likely the change in the system where you can give a player 7 mil or so and only lose a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd is why offer sheets seem to be a bigger threat. |

Oduya offer will be
3 yrs -12 mill
4 yrs 14 mill - Buffalo39
I'm good with the above if it comes to fruition. I read somewhere that Oduya is a fitness freak (like O'Reilly). If true, then he could be a serviceable mentor to our young guys coming up. Plus he's a lefty

I hope the trend doesn't continue in the NHL. I know free agency and trades are exciting, but I like seeing my team draft a good player, and watching them play for my team for a long time.
It would suck to have to trade someone like Girgensons or Reinhart in a few years.
I dont want it to become the NFL. Case in point Mario Williams and Suh. They were drafted 1 and 2 overall and within 5 years both are gone. They're supposed to be franchise players |

With the salary cap that's bound to happen though. Good GM's like Bowman is, trades those players before losing them for nothing. |

I dont know much about him except he is young and has some big seasons in the KHL?
If buffalo could ever become what chicago is wow. Getting one cup is obviously the goal first and foremost, but they drafted and identified 4 guys that allow virtually the rest of the team to be interchangeable.
Hossa plays a major role in their success. Love watching him play and i also think he is massively underrated but when the time comes he will probably be interchangeable as well. - ieetbred
I like how we are set up for the future
Kane-Eichel-Ennis...
Top scoring line
Girgensons-O'Reilly-Larsson...
Shut down line, but should also score decently
(?????)-Reinhart-(?????)
Could dominate other teams 3rd lines, just need to find 2 wingers
Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching, Possler, Carrier, Karabacek, Rodrigues, Cornel
Can TWO of them work out nicely?
I think the odds are with us
Top LH defenseman (McCabe eventually?), and Goalie (for now), still concerns me though |

Where does he fit in the lineup?
We already have 14 nhl forwards
Unless we send Foligno &/or Larsson for a defenseman, I don't see us picking up any more forwards |

I think the sad reality is Martin, Sekera and Odyua are going to be heavily pursued by like 10-15 teams with maybe 5-6 of them showing serious interest. I hope the Sabres pin point one of the three and start right at 12 with an aggressive offer. If you have to overpay slightly fine. Do it. But don't get too crazy... If we end up striking out on all three which could very well happen I hope Murray makes a trade for a top four LHD. Maybe a cap strapped team wants a few mid level picks or a smaller end prospect? |

A year ago we had the assets to beat CBJ for Saad.
This is kind of why I hated trading 800 prospects and picks within a few months.
That 22nd pick + a couple prospects could (maybe) have gotten him.
Imagine Saad and O'Reilly - sbroads24

None of those guys are a top 4 LHD that's what we need badly! I'd be happy to get one of those three as a 6 7 guy. But if we fail to land one of the big three or four if you count the guy out of Anaheim (Which is very possible) I hope we make a trade for a guy. Fingers crossed we can bring in Odyua or Martin but I'd be a little surprised if we can beat out teams like Colorado, Boston, San Jose, LA, Anaheim. |

With them being so active at the draft, my expectations are lowered for tomorrow so I won't be disappointed |

not getting a top 4 d man on the cheap
best case IMO
1. odyua on a 2 year deal
2. Beauchemin on a 2 year deal
3. trade the panthers a 5th rd pick and pay soupy a ton of money for 1 year |

Idk that any of those guys would wanna come here
Even with 2 of them, we aren't a Cup contender next year, and prob not the year after.
Those guys are prob signing their last major contract, and i think it's safe to assume they wanna go somewhere they think they'll have a better shot at winning right away
Also
Murray was pretty consistent about the age of guys he was looking for.
I'm not saying he won't sign a 30ish UFA,
But it wouldn't make much sense to give an older guy really good $$$ until he's near 40
Just don't see it happening
A guy like Sekera who's 29...
That makes more sense
It's why I keep saying I think we could see Foligno or Larsson traded for a defenseman
Seems to fit better with what Murray is doing |
