Hossa has played in 7 of the last 9 or some crazy stat like that and has had a benefit of playing on GREAT teams throughout the last portion of his career. i think that has helped his career stats go up a bit.
Pommer.. not so much. I didn't say they were equal.. just that they were a very good comparison to one another. A poor man's Hossa. - JVince11
He was last was a ppg player 9 years ago. |

I really think we should offer one of our 4 2nd rounders next year for Ericksson if this is indeed the case. Could be a very nice 2nd line winger who put home some pucks. Health has been an issue recently but a former 70 pt player doesn't grow on trees. - JVince11
I'd rather maximize the opportunities for the kids on the team and in the system. Get a middle-pairing Dman on a 3 year deal and call it a summer. |

@BNHarrington @shoe1017 @JoshSouthcombe Yes, indeed. However, I expect EKane to pot 35Gs and 40As this season. Murray will win this trade

You have to isolate the player. Hossa lucked out playing for the Blackhawks. Is he a HOFer if he has 0 cups on the Jets? - sambarugh
He has played in 5 cup finals in the last 8 years.
He will go down as a very underrated player from this era.
When all is said and done he will have close to 1300 points and close to 600 goals.
Dave Andreychuk is still waiting for a call from the hall with similar numbers. |

I totally understand that. I really do. But sometimes you just have to take advantage of a fire sale and stock up.
I still think we have too many forwards right now. Could see Foligno or Legwand traded.. or Legwand bought out. |

Hossa career .901 ppg player and a probable HOFer in this era
Pominville .7699 ppg player and is nowhere near a HOFer in any era
Just saying. - dadeadhead
Oh I 100% agree.
But over the last 4 years Pomminville's numbers and Hossa's numbers are extremely similar |

Over the last 4 years Hossa has been past the prototypical prime, Pominville just turned 32......... |

Give him 3rd line mins and 2nd unit pp time.
He has 30ish points come the deadline and you'll get a 2nd/3rd and mid prospect for him. |

Again, I am not arguing with you here Hossa's carrer>>>Pomminville's career
I still think Pomminville could put up 60 points the next 2-3 years and 45-55 points the following few years, he doesn't take bad hits, he can run the power play, and he plays an extremely responsible two way game.
I think Pomminville could play the Hossa role on the Sabres for the next 4 years. |

The difference is can Pommer be like Hossa come playoff time?
I'm not sure he can. |

There aren't many who can be Hossa like in the playoffs. That doesn't mean Pommer has to, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be a part of a great playoff team. |

Listen I like Pommer and out of all the guys that have been moved out, he was the one I'd have liked to see stay.
He and Hossa are not close to the same player IMO.
Pommer is a very poor man's Hossa. |
