It's not wholly unsurprising you take an issue with any move the Leafs made. It must be tiring.

Yes, Leafs have enough picks to offersheet.
They already have an additional 1st and 3rd.
If I"m correct, Leafs currently have 2 1sts, 1 2nd, 2 3rds.
If they would offersheet, they'd have Pitts 1st and NJ 3rd still in 2016.

Dude …Leafs are going to be one of the pre-season favourites to finish last. You don't do anything with that pick.

He's not and its a terrble idea.
- Bigzby

He's a pretty good player with upside but so will the top 5 player next year.
To give up a second and third on top of that....plus give him a huge contract...that's just idiotic.

Glad to see the leafs f'd up the trade of their biggest asset in 20 years.
I believe the 1st rounder is only guaranteed if the pens make the playoffs.
Horrible.
The leafs traded a 35 goal scorer and two former 1st rounders for a potential late 1st rounder, a B prospect who isn't living up to potential a 5th dman and a 3rd liner.
Leafs should have traded for a real gm

two year re-build and you're counting on Nylander, Marner, Kapanaan and our 2016 picks? Did you not hear about the develop part of draft and develop. We're picking up some nice pieces but give them a chance.
- Canada Cup

yes.
those three guys better be ready in 2016-2017 or 2017-2018 latest.
if not, better trade them.

2013 draft:
mckinnon, barkov, drouin, jones, lindholm, monahan, nurse, ristolainen, horvat, nichushkin.
of that top10, drouin might be only guy who will not be ready for fulltime NHL duties 2015-2016 season (2y after draft), most other guys already played full (and good) season last season.

2014 draft:
next season, some of the 2014 draft class will make their appearences in the nhl lineups; Nylander is a strong possibility to make the Leafs team for sure.

if in 2016, Nylander and Kapanen would not be ready, that's not a good sign.
The 2016 pick, if indeed top5, should be ready 2017-2018 season as well.

So 2 years rebuild, after that those young guys could be ready to go.

Morning.

Anyone here come up with a good reason why what the Leafs took back was good for them in the long run?

- Colin Dambrauskas

Yup. They don't have Kessel. Culture change we all wanted.

All the essentials.

Winnik will not be traded next year TD but in his 2nd year of the contract is a different story.

The rhetoric of that guy with ANY Leafs move is boring. I'm beginning to think he is Iggy (or visa versa)

The Leafs will respect him and not trade him. After being traded, the fact that he returned shows he wants to play here. The Leafs need guys like that. Guys who WANT to play for the Leafs and not just collect the Leafs paycheque.

I get the feeling the leafs tried..but Pits was not budging on Pouliot/Maata at all
the return just feels like Shanny said trade him..get the best you can

anyways I really liked Kessel, feel he was unfairly criticized and put in a position to fail by previous management . Glad he gets to play with 2 of the best centers in the world

Was talking Spaling. He's a hard working, pk'er, possession guy - like Winnik.

Galchenyuk will be one of best 10-15 Cs in league for years to come, and definitely a #1C.
The guy is a great player, and when playing on a team with a coach that gives him some time on C, he'll light up the league and be a 70+points player.
One so-so playoff series for a 21y old player does not mean he's a bust (the guy still got 46points last season on a Habs team that is one of the worst in offensive production).
His advanced stats numbers look really good as well; something Dubas and co are obviously looking at.
