Thoughts on the Leafs moves so far? - Pecafan Fan
Very pleased. The kessel deal fills holes in the development system which is important.
Now they're starting to build a young team with a future. Or at least, attempting too.
The signings were exactly as I expected, short simple deals for vets who can lead and teach. I love that kessel is gone in this regard. He isn't a hockey player, just a goal scorer who relies on natural ability. Not a good role model for the young guys moving forward.
That being said, he'll thrive in Pittsburgh since he's no longer a core guy. He can do what he does best, which is go and score goals and not be expected to lead. |

Its ok, bozie still has a locket with phils pic hanging around his neck. They exchanged bff bracelets too - TonkaPhaneuf
I wonder if Bozie will continue to stay in the apartment... and more importantly, who gets custody of Stella the goldendoodle??? |

I think Bozak will finally break through his shell. He's been an elite level defensive player for years, schooling everybody on the dot, making the hard plays for that floater Fatssel. He was always forced to pass to Kessel because that sociopath demanded the puck from him. You could tell Bozak hated playing with that narcissistic wingman.
With his shooting % in the 15-20's as more or less his average, it's safe to say without deadbeat Kessel he will shoot more and likely get 35 goals at least.
Hell, he could have scored 10-15 more goals if Kessel's passes weren't so hard and on the tape. How can Bozak be expected to shoot it into the empty net with such a hard pass?
I wouldn't be surprised at a 40g - 80p season, probably a Selke nod too, with Floatssel gone, Bozak's +/- will finally reflect the level of defensive genius he provides so that West Coast bias can be shattered in the voting. |

The signings aren't surprising at all and make sense.
The more I read about the Pens prospects that were acquired, the more it seems like it could either payoff or be a complete bust. So we'll see. |

It's a gamble trading a proven asset for prospects and always will be.
You don't win at craps without tossing the dice tho.
Win or lose, I'm glad they did it.
And Harrington is a former knight which comforts me... Hunter knows exactly what this guy brings to the table. |

Kapanen had 0.5 ppg playing against men in Finland, which is pretty comforting too. |

|
So, bottom of the bottomest line...
Seguin, Hamilton, Knight, Biggs, Erixon, 2nd round pick, $1.25 million/7 years
for
Kapanen, Harrington, Spaling, playoff protected 1st round pick, 3rd round pick
Is that everything? Why doesn't stuff like this ever happen to other teams?
