At the time Burke (all hail the dark Lord Burke) arrived in Toronto (illegally poached from Anaheim --- people tend to forget that) he was already yesterday's news. He had no vision of the new salary cap era and the value of staying young and retaining draft picks.

But the most damning thing was never getting an actual centre for Kessel. In Kessel he had a great player with no one to play with.

Glad to see this is over.

I thought his return was pretty decent... I am surprised to hear many are disappointed in what the Leafs got back.

It isn't Leaf hate. You look at real legit elite players and they battle for the Art Ross Trophy. Guys like Crosby, Giroux, Benn, Getzlaf, Perry and Ovechkin. These guys make other players better. Kessel has only scored 30 goals once in his career and his highest point total was 60 points. He is a one way player and he will do slightly better in Pits but he is in now way elite and he isn't going to help stop pucks from going in the Pens net. They will have to out score opponents every time to win.

Any Stephen King fans? Halfway through I Finders Keepers. I'm 50/50 on it so far. Not a book that needed a sequel imo. Original was fantastic though. But stood more in its own than something that could be continued.
