Jesus Christ. Still with the Kessel Bozak jokes.
joke. The chicken crossed the road because he wanted to. Get over it. - systemtool
Bozak actually got excited to see Phil had been dealt to Pittsburgh along with Tyler B. Except....... |

Man. Kinda sucks. Never was a Kessel hater.
Lord knows when we get a goal scorer like him again. - systemtool
I wasn't either, just a shame we didn't have talent around him. I wouldn't be surprised if he scores fifty atleast once with Malkin/Crosby

Sportsnet had him and Nylander as centres on the ticker the other night... - aminnes
Leafs want them to be Cs, Nylander took a lot of draws in the swedish league and they told Marner they want him to be a C |

For sure ….he had to submit a new list July 1 (iirc). I'm sure the list was the same. It was full of teams with no cap space (Chi, Mon, Pit, Phi, Bos, NYR, etc….). It was a staredown between Pit and Tor and Pit had the better hand.
Leafs could have said no and kept him ….but we'd be female doging about that too. And the list would look the same next year and we'd be doing the same dance …just 1 year later. - The Law
If it weren't clear before today it sure is clear now. A player with term and dollars with a restricted NTC is difficult to get value for.
This wasn't Boston f'ing up on Thornton, Seguin, Hamilton this was more like Rick Nash moving to NYR... |

That is a good comparison. CBJ mishandled that too arguably, it was well known publically that he was going to be moved out of there before it actually happened.

So draft players and convert them into what is needed... Hope it worked out. It could potentially, but playing centre on a top line in the NHL effectively is not for everyone, and is very difficult... |

So what ive heard is that it wasn't Maata or Polliot that the Leafs said had to be a must in the trade, it was all centered around getting Kapanen. |

size and speed, not exactly a common combo. Those guys definitely don't have size.

I would think your odds are increased if you at least draft a guy that has played centre. I mean I could be crazy but the strategy to this point is at least unorthodox in an attempt to fill the centre void... |

Which is why i was more leaning towards Strome in terms of forwards, but knew they'd likely go for Hunter's guy.

Oh yeah it was a gong show there but at the end of the day Nash had a NTC.
You will get the most value for a player on an ELC or still having RFA status.
I said this months ago and was mocked, JVR will get the Leafs more back than Kessel will. If they want to trade him that is. |
