So I'm thinking Grigorenko is kind of a wildcard.. as is Rantanen.. I see moving O'Reilly as a way to free up MacKinnon to move back to Center. which makes the most sense.. kinda the same scenario with Stamkos and Tampa. Grigorenko would have less responsibility on the wings and be the beneficiary of some great line mates. Soderberg i think will shift to either the wings on the top line in place of tanguay or man the 3rd line which is looking more like a gritty scoring threat leaving the 4th line to cycle the puck as it should be. |

I only worry about Everberg, he showed some grit and I think he could work out on the 3rd line.

Soderberg is a really expensive third line center.

I don't post much as I just remembered my username and password but...
I think Beauchemin is a great pick up! I hope the big upcoming RFAs are signed to save money before next year.
I mainly wanted to post to bring up a funny point I think we are missing when posting lines.( I know it serves as organization purposes) but why would we even attempt to guess the "lines" Patrick Roy will use? He will change them more than all the combinations we can ponder.
Anyway here is to starting to post more. |

I think so, work in progress, but hes a very responsible defensive player that drives possession. He spent too much time with plugs like Cliche and McLeod. Give him some real line mates and his numbers will climb |

yeah I can see him being put in that role now, if roy puts you on the PK, you have earned his trust. I think thats why they signed Comeau too, he has some PK ability.
Oh and Comeau brings a hot wife into Denver...Better Halves brunch is going to look even better now
- DDM-Coga
Pens fans were debating if his wife is hotter than Oshie's wife...not sure who won. |

I think both wives need to make out and whoever prevails as the one willing to go the furthest is the hottest. |

He does whatever Roy needs, I remember an interview saying Roy wished he would use his size more, next game where is he.. Front of the net creating havoc. Didn't score but just realizing he is a big body that can stand in front of the net was enough to open up the wings |

I am feeling good about the line up.
Beauchemin is a good signing. Did we overpay, maybe. It is a thin defense market this year so it is to be expected a little bit. But he gives the Avs a calming solid defensive presence back there and gives the D some credibility. Plus, the prospects can step in at the end of this contract.
Could have went after Sekera, but the length of the deal may have handcuffed the Avs a little bit.
Sounds like Oduya is still in play with the Hawks and it may have been a better choice to sign someone rather than wait on that situation.
Mike Green was a good signing for the Wings. Cheap, potential value wise, and not tied up too many years.
Barrett Jackman would have been a quality signing as well.
Comeau adds some solid depth, not a bad deal there.
Lets see if the Avs can get some more depth, or sign some "misfit toys" (think Zach Redmond). |

The more I think about the Beauchemin deal, the more I like it. Years 1-2 on the deal is sheltering Top 4 minutes for Zads and Bigras...once they are ready for big minute munching duties, he will be on the 3rd pairing bc Stuarts contract will be done.
I agree the Sekera length just isnt something we could do if they are set on our future Top 4 being Zads, EJ, Bigras, and Barrie moving forward. |

Nice signing, IMO he was one of the best players available on the market. Hopefully he's still solid by the end of it. But he's going to help big time this year and possibly beyond. |

both of todays signing dont have terrible term to them, you can get your use out of them in years 1 and 2, and by year 3 figure it all out by trading them if they seem too costly. |

The only thing I worry about with this is whether Colorado is getting the Francois Beauchemin we're expecting, or something different. I'm expecting more of a Ruslan Salei-type signing than, say, a Scott Hannan. |

His contract should also expire as soon as Bigras or Siemens are ready to get a bigger contract. Bigras ELC starts this year. Siemens should get a 2 year contract after finishing his ELC next year. The money from Beauchemin's contract should transfer right over to one of them if they ever meet their potential. Good cap management |

I agree, Beauchemin is a known commodity now, and he won't have to be the Number 1 like he was on the ducks the past few seasons. I am cool with this signing. I can't see it hurting us long term.
Guys like him will always be sought after |

Exactly, and Stuarts number comes off the book in 2 years as well, and Holden, Beachemin are done in 3 years. Really cleans up the cap space allotted in the D Core by then. All that money will be used to invest in our home grown stock.
I think the 3 year deal for him at that term is just fine, its very manageable |

I just don't get why we didn't try for Oduya a bit more. Or Sekora, 1 million more for a better defensemen? I just question the deal right now. 12 million is space is a lot to work with and seems we are just tossing in the towel on FA - romefalls19
Avs are LOADED with elite D prospects that will all be ready withing 1-4 years. It wasnt the money that was the issue but the term. Especially having Zads giving a guy 6 years could have been an issue down the line and didnt make sense. Beauch is a perfect stop gap and while the 3rd year might be a bit iffy, he will be able to slide into Stuarts spot by then who will be off the books. |

I love it. Brings grit leadership can move puck some and handle big players. Will he play pp?
I think will be better in those areas except moving puck relative to sekera - JeffShantz
Beauch has a solid 1st exit pass. Also hard to think Zads who will replace Guenin wont be better as well. Also the added size makes it much easier to play Elliot/Redmond on the 3rd pairing if it is still an issue. |

Also another thing to keep in mind is that we should expect the line up to be mixed up A LOT next season as we have a lot of movable parts who can play multiple positions. On some nights it might make sense to exploit match ups by putting Mackinnon on 3C while others on wing. Also one of the few things left to address has been a winger for Duchene which will cause some jumbles as well. So trying to create line ups is meh |

Everberg is such a smart possession driving forward he will work anywhere on the bottom 6. Biggest issue right now is he has 0 offensive instincts which he will have to work on. Although what would be better is if he focused more on being a PK specialist, then he's be set for a long long time. |
