I think it's possible for the Sabres to make the playoffs this year. But it's too early to tell, there's a lot of good teams, and a lot of them got better. Anything can happen in an 82 game season. - chilliard77
Even with an upgrade in D I don't see playoffs. Too many good teams ahead of us and the unknown factor... Lehner. The following year absolutely. Give the new players time to gel.

I wouldn't be shocked if the panthers or sens missed the playoffs - homiedclown
I would still say they're both better. I'd love for the Sabres to go from the outhouse to the penthouse. If they significantly improve the D, maybe but there are alot of teams they have to jump over and get some pretty fantastic goaltending out of Lehner. He's the X factor.

If Lehner can post a GAA around 2.75 - and he needs another top 4 Dman to help with that - this team will lose in the second round of the playoffs.
I think Pysyk and Gorges would be best off on the 3rd pairing together. Gorges could probably play on the 2nd pair, but should be nowhere near 1st pairing. Johnson has been a reliable backup until this past season, he should do for backup. - chilliard77
I don't think that Murray is done. Any other moves should be through the trade route. The overpaying for UFAs is a joke. My guess is that he is going to wait untill the dust settles, and teams see where they are, and then trades will be made. A lot of teams are going to need to shed salary. In Tim we trust!!!!!
After last season, I called them this season's dark horse. They couldn't get past Anaheim, but I honestly think they could have given Chicago a run for their money if they had. Overall, a bit too inexperienced this past season, I completely agree with you on next season. They could easily be a top 3 team in the league if they stay healthy and get great goaltending. We will see. - DynamicThreads
Or they miss the playoffs by 20 points. They had absolutely everything go right for them last year, if they don't this year they could be a ways back in the pack.
