"C.J. Motte, G
Senior, Ferris State University (WCHA)
It’s been a very difficult season for senior C.J. Motte and his Ferris State team. Despite the Bulldogs’ struggles, Motte continues to be among the nation’s best netminders and one of the most highly sought-after available free agents at his position.
The St. Clair, MI native has been college hockey’s ultimate workhorse this season. He has started in all 35 games for Ferris State in 2014-15. His 35 games and 2089:49 minutes played both lead the nation. Motte currently sports a 14-19-2 record that includes four shutouts, which ties him for fourth nationally. Despite a losing record, he has posted very respectable numbers in goals-against average (2.21) and save percentage (.918). One interesting aspect about Motte this season is the fact that he is the only NCAA netminder that serves as his team’s captain.
Motte, brother of Chicago Blackhawks prospect Tyler Motte, is a 6’0”, 177-pound hybrid-style goaltender. One of his greatest attributes is his puck handling. He possesses great poise with the puck and moves it remarkably well. Motte is extremely composed in net and isn’t one to get rattled easily. Since assuming the starting role two years ago, he has continually played at a consistently high level. He has demonstrated the ability to win games for his team and does a very good job of tracking and staying with plays. One notable area of Motte’s game this season is the fact that he aggressively challenges shooters more often."

I'm just stoked about our 6'6" center who will turn 32 in 2013 and is about to get extended by 7 years for 7.5 million dollars a year. |

What if it only cost us one of our 3rds next year? (maybe chicago woke up, and realized their prize is crazy and they need to move cap) - Mentalorgasm5
Only interested after we have shored up our defence situation.

As soon as the Hawks decide what players stay and what will go, Oduya will make his decision, no shortage of takers. |

I really like the fact that the team is adding to our prospect depth via the college route. It worked very well with Flynn and Ruhwedel who are looking to be good depth options in the NHL. |

3. Bonus-laden contract proves that O'Reilly might be the biggest pain in the ass to negotiate with in modern NHL history. #NoBuyouts

I said it before the trade. Ryan O'Reilly has absolutely mastered the money side of being an NHL player. |

If all the money is tied up in bonuses and his actual salary is $1 million. What does the cap hit look like ? Is it an average of the 7 years which would be $7.5 M AAV or would it be $1 M ? Cause I remember Myers one year made $10 M in one year but his actual cap hit was something like $4.5 M |

He must be awfully confident in himself. At least he will have really earned it. They should have had Hodgson's contract like that.

When you buy a man's total prime and take him away from a team that really wanted him, it is what it is. This is the way you structure a contract for a star player. Many teams simply can't do this but Terry Pegula is a different beast. The NHL has been put on notice.
