Probably when the Phantoms won the Calder Cup w/ Richie, Sharp, Carts, Umby, Seidenberg, Nitty, Pitkanen, RANDY JONES etc. - Tomahawk
That team never recovered from losing Frank Bialowas. |

Cousins is no longer a prospect. He will likely be attending rookie camp. - jmatchett383
Yeah, but he was drafted in 2012 and a slew of other 2012 draftees -- Laughton, Stolarz, Ghost, Willcox -- will be there again.

Is Michael Parks gonna get signed? - Feanor
Not looking like it, is it? Had heard rumor (never confirmed) that he was offered an AHL contract but not an ELC. |

2 first round picks in 2003 with Carter and Richards. Wonder how many other times that has happened. Looking through the draft history, it's amazing how few picks the Flyers seem to have year after year (most years). |

It's really amazing how quickly a depleted system can get back on track after a couple of strong drafts with a lot of picks. - Tomahawk
Seemed like the system was ranked in the bottom 5 for a decade +. Where do you figure they stack up now? Middle of the pack? |

His hopes must have gone up when Hakstol got signed, so I feel bad for the kid. |

Yeah, probably middle-third. Still too little depth up front. |

Expectations were: Carter was meant to be a number 1 C, Richie a number 2, Pitkanin a number 1-2 D, Umby a 3C, Seidenberg and Jone 4-6 range and I thought Sharp wasn't a top prospect but maybe a third line winger. Sound right? That was a log time ago and if I remember correctly that was a bit better prospect pool then now but not much and certainly the D is more promising now. |

Was it Picard that tied the NHL record for assist in an NHL game by a rookie (5), but they lost 6-5? |

From Jeremy Rutherford chat. Blues beat writer who doesn't get involved in speculation.
Quote:
The Flyers come up because there have been conversations. They need D, so that's why Shattenkirk's name comes up. I think Oshie's name comes up for a few reasons. It seems the Blues have checked with many teams about Oshie and some of those who might have had interest have dropped out. The Flyers seem like a possibility because he could be part of a bigger trade. Also, as we've mentioned previously, the Flyers are now coached by Oshie's former college coach from North Dakota, Dave Hakstol.
Quote:
Without getting into too much speculation, the Blues are talking trade, as I mentioned earlier. Shattenkirk's name has come up, as we mentioned. As we know, the names of a couple of forwards (Oshie, etc.) have already been in the mix. Around the league, it's believed that if the Blues make a deal, it could include multiple household names. I'm not saying Shattenkirk-Oshie, spefically. But the belief is that the Blues are talking about a bigger deal, not a small one.
Quote:
I don't believe the Blues will trade Shattenkirk unless it's something that's going to be a benefit. That's the thing, they don't have to trade him. The team's window is open now, and any deal that sets that back next season makes no sense. |

Patrick Sharp was a 3rd round pick. It's not like he was some undrafted free agent.
He was a pretty good college player in a pretty good program. |

My thought on a previous discussion I proposed of hextall possibly favoring cousins over laughton. I at the time didn't have a ton of evidence to support it other than laughton continually being talked of as a trade chip. I wondered if cousins absence might mean to hextall cousins is the more polished prospect today. If the organization felt that way you could see laughton moved this year or next for a need versus just lining up 6 centers. B schenn appears by all means to be our 3c this year, will laughton ever score 47 points in nhl like schenn already has ? |

Is there a feasible trade where st Louis and philly could make a trade for tarasenko and shattenkirk without giving up g voracek and simmonds? |
