Tarasenko is what 22 ? And scored 30 some goals twice ? He's not going anywhere blues literally will trade the rest the team first. That's not enough to make the cap work either he's getting 7.5+ million a year.

shattenkirk however is their 3rd d man. For a reasonable deal I'd do it but I don't see him going for a reasonable amount. You don't trade away top 2 defenseman and top line scoring wingers for 2nd liners and mild d prospects. I'm not high on hagg like this forum is. Think he's never shown any work ethic to improve his game or take his game higher.

Kessel didn't get a huge hual. And he is top 6 or 7 point producer year after year. I don't think it will happen I just don't think I'm that far off

Who do we think is the next significant name signed? Franson? Oduya? Ward? Ehrhoff?

I'm surprised Ehrhoff and Ward aren't signed yet. I'm thinking Ehrhoff wants too much and teams are scared by his injury-plagued season.

If I were an NHL GM I would be very leery of handing a contract with any serious substance to Erhoff.

Ward is surprising considering his playoff. I'm guessing his asking price and age are scaring teams off. I wouldn't offer any significant term or cap hit to ehroff.

We'll for Ehrhoff and Ward in particular, it's more about fit at this point. These guys wanna win. Probably contemplating taking smaller money and/or term for the ideal situation.

I'm wondering if they terminate his contract or does he get to play next year after a season suspension ? If he does would kings hold onto his rights ? Interesting scenario.
- Tfaehner

I know the Kings are not obligated to make a decision right now regarding Voynov. However, IMO having Voynov still under contract after they terminated Richard's contract makes them look really bad.

I get Richards stinks and Voynov still has upside. Again, just makes them look really bad.

I don't think the Kings can technically do anything with Voynov's contract until after the NHL "unsuspends" him.

They Kings suspended him as well for the achilles injury. I would think that if the Kings asked the league to reinstatement him they (the league) would, knowing that the Kings would terminate the contract.

I'm just saying, I don't think the Kings necessarily look bad (yet) as far as a double standard with contract terminations because I don't think they've technically been able to do anything with Voynov. Now that the sentencing is done, we'll see what they really do about it and whether they do truly have a double standard with regards to both players.

I agree for the most part. They did (apparently) have the option to terminate the contract when it happened. I am willing to wait and see what they do.

I do have to give this year's crop of GMs credit -- whether it's something in the water, or some of them truly starting to pay attention to the analytics that tell you to run away from career seasons with unsustainably high shooting percentages, or whatever, they have really done a pretty good job this free agency period

Yes, this was a weaker class of FAs, but at least there weren't any LOL deals that really skew things for the future

Yeah, even the teams that have cap space are being smart w/ how they spend it.
