That's true. Thing is that there is no way of knowing what the league will be like in 5 years. The NHL is horrible at marketing itself but if it did and more revenue came in, the cap could increase to a point where it gets back to how much owners are willing to spend (pre-cap). I don't know if it will actually get to that point, maybe salaries will just keep increasing along with it. Either way a team can pay max salary to a player. If it comes to the point where the Oil have too many good players EARNING huge dollars then we are laughing. Might end up trading a Saad like Chicago but Connor earning top dollars means the Oil are winning. Seems like the last thing to worry about.

I know this is a troll but who knows if McDavid will be a career Oiler. We haven't really had one ever. Not one that started and retired after 18+ years like some teams. Either way he is here now and if he does get traded 10 years down the road it will be for a lot. Same with any of our first rounders. I am fairly certain the Oilers will win the cup a few times before Toronto does. Calgary too. Its a good time to be a fan of either team.
