Switching gears.
What are your thoughts on the Bruins? - puckhead17
At the very least they were bold. From what I can see they were going for a retool. They figured an offer sheet was coming for Hamilton, so they moved him. I thought they could have gotten more, but they felt it was enough. The Lucic trade was pretty good return. I thought they should have moved back in the draft if they were going to reach as much as they did in the first round. It looks like they are still trying to be competitive next year with the Belesky signing, but its hard to argue they are better. The only thing I can think of is that they are not as high on Hamilton as people outside of Boston are. |

Hated the Hamilton trade and subsequent picks. Liked the Lucic trade. They got Belesky on a better deal than expected - Jsaquella
It's coming out he didnt want to commit to them, (Hamlton), but Boston got a slightly better package if they offer sheeted them?
Maybe he offer sheet was coming fast, and they had no time to field offers?
I guess Lucic had to go, or they would have had to pay 5 players $7m each.
I liked the Belesky signing too, as well as the Jimmie Hayes trade.
Boston has made the off season pretty interesting for a hockey fan, but not a Bruin fan. |

Stated that a number of times. Flyers are a cap team because they choose to be. - MJL
As opposed to what else? Being forced to be one? |

Man for a rumor website... it doesn't really have any rumors. At all.
Just retweets by Eklund of rumors out there already.

That's what it looked like regarding Hamilton, thy had no time to field offers.
Lucic would ask for $7m, too many players making that already, I'm interested in seeing how Belesky plays, as well as Jimmie Hayes.
Only, who scores 30 on that team now? |

There was a rumor last night that the Philadelphia Flyers had an offer on the table for Sharp that included winger Matt Read and more. No word on how many total assets were involved or the total salary impact for both clubs. Or if Sharp would even waive to go back to Philadelphia, where he began his career.

Choosing to be a team that is well under the cap. They could be that team if they wanted to be. |

That's my thought, too. Whatever you're spending on player contracts counts against your cap (LTIR situations notwithstanding). |

Sign him to a short term deal, and then auction him off to the world. Apparently they only offered a deal to Western teams, and rejected a better offer from Edmonton, because Edmonton hired Chiarelli, and they were worried he'd be the one tossing an offer sheet out |

Thanks Bill. I am sorry to see Zepp go. How much did LaBarbera sign for? I thought that Zepp would have been a cheaper option, plus he played well last year.
It's sad to see Mike Richards still having issues. You see this happen to players in other sports as well. If the leagues would provide better guidance, and resources many of these situations could be avoided. However, the players also need to help themselves, and have the support of the player's associations in their times of need. |

Apparently they made him multiple offers, and he never replied, countered, or anything.
Seems like they were in a bad situation. |

Well, I've heard they low balled him twice, then made the offer of $5.5mm, which he rejected. Still made a bad value trade. Even if he signed an offer sheet, match it and trade him in a year. |
