Bombers cant defend for poop for last couple years, even if things are a bit better under new management.
I see another Cats vs Stamps final. Glenn is all class. - flyer_nutter
Yeah pretty much lol. Riders could beat the Stamps if their defense doesnt play like W1. I think you guys scored on all but 1 possession?
Offense was great but man D was atrocious. Although the 2 best defensive players in the CFL (Brackenridge, Emry) both got hurt sooooo |

So if ROR is worth 7.5M, whats Jake worth? 12? - FLYERSROCK!
Hopefully Jake's agent doesn't try to use that as a comp |

O'Reilly now has escrow escape and lockout protection. Smart move by him & his agent. - Jsaquella
I'm surprised the owners let that happen in the CBA. |

I'd be shocked if he gets less than 8.25. I dont think they'll pay him more than Giroux though... im thinking 8 years 8M per |

O'Reilly was already making $6.5mm, so it's not like he got a massive raise. |

Yep. If a significant number of deals get done that way you know it will be changed during the next lockout. |

i dont even know what a reasonable price for 2nd and 3rd liners are anymore after Toews and Kane set the bar for 1st liners... pretty much any 1st liner with a new contract is guaranteed minimum 7M now
But man 7.5M for ROR is berserk. Just berserk. |

One goal of Hextall's has been to make the AHL team better, kind of ingrain the idea of being a winner from the ground up. It seems like the Flyers will use the AHL team more as a developmental tool than they did in the past, when it was filled with fringe prospects, random AHL vets and undrafted FAs from NCAA or CHL.
Scott Laughton is the first Flyers 1st rounder that I can recall spending significant time in the AHL since Steve Downie(in a non lockout season, anyhow) - Jsaquella
The potential problem with Laughton is whether they really have a place for him. If Schenn seems to perform well at C and/or if Konecny continues to progress, then they might be better off using Laughton as trade bait for a young LW prospect. That is still the glaring hole in the organization.
Nashville is loaded with LW prospects not in the NHL. You won't get Fiala, but maybe there is a fit with one of the others. |

Does seem high for one 60 point season, (and 2/50 point seasons)
What does Stepan get now? |

They see Konecny as a RW for now. Laughton can play LW, not sure if it was the Flyers or Berube that was adamant about keeping him at C.
Could use Laughton as a 4th liner for now, no rush, really to move him. Might be nice to have the cheap insurance if Schenn or Couturier explode and start looking for huge paydays. |

I'd explore all avenues trying to get RJ out of town a little sooner and put Laughton in at LW. I do think he's got some big roadblocks in front of him on the depth chart though.
If they could swap him for a LW prospect of similar value I would certainly consider doing so. |

Just double checked, the signing bonus in O'Reilly's deal isn't escrow protected, however, bonuses paid on July 1st will protect him from missing checks in case of a lockout.

If Umberger has another miserable season, I think that they may well buy him out. |

It's nice for the player getting a huge check each July 1st. Then he can put that cash to work instead of waiting for it |

How does everyone feel about having 5 potential rookie dmen in the lineup in 16/17?
This reason alone is almost why i hope Provorov or Morin make the team this year... |

This team has won 3 playoff games in 3 yrs. how many road blocks could there be if the kid has the talent. I think he does. |
