no one in the buffalo media is going to question paying ror so much having achieved so little? - BluemanGuruu
It comes down to the fact that ROR is a UFA next summer and with the assets Buffalo dealt and the overall desirability of signing in Buffalo (still early in the rebuild, the city doesn't exactly have weather like Tampa or LA) that Buffalo needed to lock him up long term.
$7.5M is steep, but he's the type of player that in this situation (top PP time, 1st line minutes, playing with Kane) could come close to a PPG if not more consistently over the life of this deal. He's a really good player and I think he'll break out.
But if Buffalo plays hardball with him and he walks next summer, then people would be poopting on Buffalo for giving up that package for him. |

Classic Sabres, overpaying for 2nd line talent. ROR only put up points when riding shotgun on line with Mackinnon or Duchene. |

Sorry, you have the wrong man.
But you can continue your misguided assumptions.
We can't always all see eye to eye.
We can't all follow the Pied Piper.
Have you ever had this notion cross your mind?
I'd bet not........
I don't trip over my own feet and the fans in front of me to pat some one on the back that I don't feel merits it.
When I see the results, only then this man feels you have merited that pat on the back.
The only results I have seen thus far is last place in the league with some very one sided deals in my opinion, but it's my opinion and won't be changed until I see results.
Not until then. Was

52 points for Saad as winger, 55 points for ROR. Also Saad over his last 2 playoff runs, 42 games, 27 points.
You paid 1.5 million more for 3 more points and less of playoff preformer.

Really? You're splitting hairs $1.5 MM and the fact your guy went deeper into the playoffs - surrounded by players that carried the team to the Cup? Your argument is weak at best

Blame the flames for pushing ROR to UFA early. CLB did the right thing and bought some of Saad's UFA years for under market value.

oh yeah, because now every player isn't going to want this type of contract structure. They hate escrow payments, Buffalo gave O'Reilly a way around it.
The small market owners shut down the league to get them in the first place. - jimbro83
Half the teams in the league bleed money, I think there will be a lockout every time a new CBA is needed, its just going to be the norm. |

Replace ROR with Saad, Sabres with Jackets and Mackinnon and Duchene with half the Hawks team and you would be more accurate. |

A haiku I wrote for hat just now since he enjoys poetry:
Sabres looking good at last,
Hard hat isn't pleased with Murray,
Well go be a Blackhawks fan!
Also, wow these conversations are the exact reason I float instead of joining in most days. |

Really is a shame cause there are some great hockey minds that I enjoy talking with here but when they are on the few I avoid tend to be on as well. So while I'd love to post more, read less I just don't wanna deal with it. |
