100% agree
We have been poope for 2+ years now. Enough with the draft picks. Let's get some known commodities (re: NHL players) in the line-up. I am completely fine with what Murray has to give up to get Kane, ROR, Bogo, Lehner, McGinn. We'll actually have an NHL team next year to watch. Can't wait!
BTW - Happy 4th to all of my American cousins. I love Canada and I love the United States. Best two countries in the world - SabreWest

So difficult to say what the Flames do but I would think they would like to re-sign both Russell and Giordano. Maybe it leaves them moving Smid. They could have some serious cap issues next year. - mhp
Wouldn't surprise me if they move Giordano, not sure they are going to want to pay him PK type money. |

That and them getting Hamilton spells the end for Gio in Calgary I think. |

All you guys panicking we still have plenty of forwards in our prospect ranks. The whole point of having a prospect pool is hoping out of the group some "hit" and become NHLers. The reality is most don't. We essentially mitigated the risk and got proven talent, talent that is young and only a couple years older than all these prospects everyone seemed to love.
You prospect lovers can rest easy though, with the core of our team being 24 and under the next couple drafts will restock the cupboards. I'll take NHL players over prospects any day. The Stanley cup is won by NHL players not hockey futures.com rankings. - Fattony1187
Wow, somebody on this particular message board gets it.
Those that are belly aching, they'll be the ones crying that we didn't win 5 cups in 5 years |

There is also the reality that one of these "proven" players Murray has acquired crashes and burns here.
I remember when Ottawa traded for a younger bonafide top line winger in Bobby Ryan, for a 1st rounder, and a prospect that looked like a fringe 2nd liner at best. Now Ryan is coming off a poor season and Jakub Silfverberg was a force in the playoffs.
We traded for 3 players less accomplished than Bobby Ryan, there is a very good possibility one of Lehner, O'Reilly, or Kane completely underperforms here. |

This is such a stupid argument.
Have we won a cup? Have we gotten past being the last place team yet? So some people have a different view on how it should be done, so what?
There are lots of people who aren't Sabre fans who have disagreed with the Lehner trade or the O'Reilly contract. Let's get off this high horse that we are suddenly infallible with Tim Murray and Terry Pegula |

Which is great, and I'm excited, but it also doesn't equal a cup.
All it takes is for O'Reilly to not actually be that good or Kane to continue to be injury prone to set us back |

You're right, we should've have just kept so many prospects that we lose them for nothing, then put Jack Eichel and Samson Rinehart on the ice wihtout any Leadership or insulation.
Great Plan |

You see it your way. I see it mine. Are these not the differing opinions you opine about in this very poa5, yet, in the same post, you go on the defensive offended capacity, with what I'm sure in is right and righteous in your opinion.
Pot meet kettle, oh look, we are both black. As if it even needed saying. |

I agree, and in theory another couple years of drafting and playing the rookies and letting them get their feet wet before going all in might turn out to have been the better idea, but it'll be interesting to watch. Kane is the one I would feel most nervous about. |

Just like attacking a cab driver over 20 cents - boy that really hurt chicago. Using these pictures as an argument against leadership is laughable! |

So the Sabres traded for a guy who posts $tack$ on his instagram and then is traded after the captain of his former team destroys one of his suits for not showing to practice. #BuffaloLeadership |
