Exactly, nobody has said that Gostisbehere is can't miss, and that the possibility of him not making it as an NHL player doesn't exist. I think the point is how can that possibly be determined now. If it was possible, I wish someone would let the Flyers in on the secret. - MJL

Who said it was determined? It was an opinion was it not?
So it also can't be determined that goulborne(sp) won't be a bust correct? |

I personally thought Hagg was going to be the whipping boy out of the young drafted d-men.

Nah....I don't see any hype with him. No whipping boy status yet |

What hype he did have has cooled. Ghost because of what he did at the frozen four set off the belief that he's going to be a stud or a solid top 4 contributor.
And in reality with him having the ACL injury we have really no idea what he can become without that year of development. |

Think you will see Laughton start to get some heat if he doesn't show something.

I think Gostisbehere is going to be great. I just don't think it'll be with the Flyers. |

Trade Luke Shenn to Buffalo, for Marcus Foligno.
Philly has bodies on the back end, and could afford to flip one for a forward. And they'd give themselves a little more cap flexibility
Obviously Flyers fans will love the style of Foligno (whose upside is Lucic-esque). But he's still developing that game and won't reach his full potential for a couple years yet (as we're just now seeing his older bro breakout).
For Buffalo, Schenn would fill the hole of former LH D-man; Zadorov, who was just traded away in the Ryan O'Riley deal. - SuperCat
you got a deal

Throw in Nicholas Baptiste, and I would drive Schenn to Buffalo myself.

The biggest problem with guys that do what those guys can do, is who's available. Who is available that can do what Simmonds does? To replace a guy like Simmonds is going to cost you something more too. You lose Simmonds, you are going to have to trade for someone else. I don't see anyone that we are developing that can step into that role right away. - watson1195
Every year the same thing is said. How are we gonna replace "player x" and what he does?
We'll manage, we always do! |

exactly.....btw, im not arguing. im simply expressing my distain for definitive declarations based on nothing. he may be a bust, he may not be. nobody knows at this point because he hasnt played enough to make that judgement. - KINGKENZO
Suggesting that the guy randomly selected a young player to rag on is silly. |

Personally I want to see how he plays with this extra 20 lbs he supposedly put on. If he is able to maintain his mobility after the injury and the added weight, I will be greatly encouraged that he can make it.

I'm optimistic about all of our prospects. The only prospect I'm a little down on is Scott Laughton. Simon Gagne and Justin Williams were naturals the moment they entered the league. Mike Richards and Jeff Carter had growing pains but they belonged here. Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier in 4 seasons have yet to have that break out seasons we're still waiting for but they've always produced. Scott Laughton still has plenty of time but past players we've developed came into the line up and grabbed on to a roster spot. The only thing that held Steve Downie back was his recklessness. Downie was an NHL player right away. |

To be honest I think he had claimed a roster spot until he got concussed.

I don't feel Laughton has been that great so far. I'm sure some will disagree but I didn't think he was that great before the Niskanen charge. |
