He had a concussion!! - SuperSchennBros
Your correct.
But there is a reason why he was drafted. He played a certain style and that's what got him drafted. If you try to change the way he plays then your not getting the best of the player. |

You can improve on a shift to shift basis. Laughton is probably the slowest I've seen develop among names like Simon Gagne, Justin Williams, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Steve Downie (Yes, Steve Downie), Claude Giroux, James van Riemsdyk, Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier. None of these players began their careers doing what Crosby or Tavares could do. In fact, most of these players (Not all) were better offensively then they were defensively when they came into the league. - SuperSchennBros
Just to confirm. This is the same kid that has played a total of 36 NHL games, right? |

I wouldnt sweat that at all.. He is my first call up - jak521
I can't remember the last time this franchise had a prospect like Laughton as a first call up.
Usually, our first call ups are veteran AHL guys, it seems. |

all ill say about laughton is he still lokked better than umberger and vinny |

severely overrated in what regard? - jak521
not as good as people think. he is not irreplaceable on this team. never going to be a big offensive point producer. not a diff maker.
all you hear about is how he shut malkin down years ago for a few games; did he really though? how he has bad line mates; yet I don't see him making his line mates any better. he is a good player though I expect more from a #8 overall pick who could have went #1 had he not got sick.
let me ask you a question. do you think they are really any worse off without him? |

But the concussion also effectived his play, right?

sometimes players lose their timing, condition and rythmn when they mis a couple weeks. not saying that happened but it was understandable. |

I have absolutely no clue how to interpret this post? - jak521
My argument has been he hasn't been good with the puck. Most of the forwards we drafted in the past 15 years have been, with offense not being an issue. You don't know how to interpret this? |

He may never develop into a great offensive player, but I'm not sure how you can even ask this question and expect a serious response. |

He was off for a while even when he returned to the Phantoms. It's not uncommon after a guy suffers a concussion. |

Sure, I can't argue this but it was so bad that he was taking out of the line up completely. We saw Steve Downie in his trade back to Philly 2 years ago really effected by concussions both from hits and fights. So should we not worry when a kid instantly provokes a fight right after a concussion?
Funny, I remember that first fight Downie had in his return to Philly being against a Capitals player. |

explain - JoeRussomanno
He takes on a great deal of the defensive burden for this team and handles himself well. If he wasn't here they'd have to either use Giroux a lot more in the defensive zone, which would limit scoring opportunities for him or use one of the other centers a lot in the defensive zone, which would be a disaster.
He's the type of player you won't miss until he's gone. |

Yes.. I think outside of G and Jake he is far and away our most important forward.
Is he as offensively dominant as we hoped he would be? No... but he really isnt all that far off from where he needs to be (offensively) before people start saying he is a premier two way forward.
If his PP number were to even marginally increase.. people his numbers would look better and people would be clamoring over his two way ability.
He is far and away our best defensive forward. He plays extremely tough minutes and yet is still about as offensively productive as Brayden Schenn.. |
