I'm not saying they should have necessarily been criticized for the trade, but it was a bad one nonetheless. The Avs are just lucky Stewart didn't turn out the way many thought he would. - djamon
Maybe you shouldn't judge a trade right away when it happens but wait a few seasons.
Everyone said the avs where dumb for trading their 1st (Yakupov) for Varlamov but it worked out great for them.
The EJ trade worked out great for Colorado. |

HUGE PLUS: To your piece on Richards and Voynov. Was finally waiting for someone to say it. Richards gets caught (allegedly) with drugs, pain killers no less, and his contract is immediately terminated. Please, how many NHLers, no, how many teams and management GAVE NHLers pain killers by the boatloads and now Richards' get fired because he got caught? Pathetic, I hope the NHLPA fights back and the NHL fines the Kings for circumvention of the cap (no worse a move than Kovalchuk's signing and eventual dismissal).
Then add to the fact that they have no problem with a wife beating loser and all that happened was he was suspended WITH pay.
I really liked almost everything about the Kings and loved a team properly built like that (similar to Chicago) be a great potential franchise team. Now I hope they barely miss the playoffs for years. Pathetic. |

I know but at the time everyone said we where finish in last place the Washington would draft Yakupov. |

You don't "get lucky" over an 82 game season. That's just asinine.
And they are only "100% becoming known for making terrible decisions" in the camp of people who think Paul Stastny (how did that work out for you, St. Louis) and ROR are the only good thing to come out of Colorado since The Banquet Beer.
And it's really funny how people like you only seem to think plus/minus doesn't mean anything if the player they are trumpeting is a minus. If you are asking for almost $8mil/per either you better have a decent plus/minus or be named, "Ovechkin".
O'Reilly, to this point, hasn't proven he is actually worth much more than your average 20-goal scorer. The *potential* may be there but to state he is, "worth every penny" of the Buffalo contract implies that you can divine the future or know something the rest of us don't (the first being impossible and the second, based on the drivel you just posted, being improbable). - jratliff
Where do you start with something like this?
I don't even know why I bother, but for sure, 100% inarguable FACT: you can definitely get lucky over 82 games. It's not even close to being as big a sample size as you think. Double it and teams could still get lucky.

Oh for sure, no one gave them any chance in that trade, but we have Varly now and I would do that trade over and over again, the guy is a Top 15 goalie in the league |

Hey Tanner, care to explain how expansion is going to significantly raise the cap? You do realize that expansion fees aren't included in the figures right? So lets hear this explanation please. |

Stewart no longer has a NHL team, and Shattenkirk is on the trade block.
Seems like a win for the avs at this point. - Drij
Shattenkirk being on the block makes it a win? Hmmmm.... |

No, at the time everyone was wondering why the hell a bad team would trade their 1st for a backup. |

I mean i see were he mentioned him,but he didnt say he was good or anything.

There was nothing to terminate his contract ended. How can you terminate a contract if there was no contract to terminate? The Kings were not brining Stoll back regardless if he was caught with drugs or just chilling by the beach. - KINGS67
He was caught with the drugs while still under contract with the Kings
Why not immediately terminate upon knowing like they did with Richards?

Because I don't think there was any money left to pay him. It would have been redundant. |

He did actually. And he's said it over and over. That we only see the highlights of his bad plays, therefore our opinions are skewed, and his numbers based opinion is superior. Yet some of the numbers pan out to him being bad as well. |

They didn't actually terminate Richards as soon as they found out. They placed him on waivers first...which I still find odd. |

being apprehensive about success should come with the territory as an oiler fan. and I certainly like what the future of that defence might bring, but I think for this upcoming season we absolutely need Talbot to play very well to have any shot at the dance. the nurses and the reinharts of the group just probably wont be ready to make enough of an impact yet |

In order to terminate a contract the player must go through waivers first. It's no different than the rules for buying out a player |
