How can you tell all this? I listened to WGR and Hamilton said they really didnt do much today. He said he saw a lot of nice crisp passing but not much else because they didnt actually play. How can you tell all that from drills?

As of now it's possible, Murray is in no rush but if you look at it we have to many forwards as of now.

I think Murray has the right approach. Wait until teams really panic going into the season and dump a player for cheap (see Blackhawks / Islanders trade for D Nick Leddy). He will get someone to bit for cheap at some point, for a player with a few years left (not too many, to keep flexibility) and a reasonable cap hit (unlike what happens during free agency).

He will get another D or two. As far as forwards go, I don't really want any more forwards unless it is a top 6 guy for cheap (doubt that happens though, no rentals yet). Looking at who we have, I am pretty pumped at forward, which says A LOT compared to start of last season.

I do think with this roster we are a playoff team. Only time will tell, but I think we are right there.

He has as many as he wants. He can sign his ELC and walk straight to Rochester if he so pleases.

Borgen needs to bulk up. Heading to St. Cloud State.

And yes, Fasching has 2 years of eligibility left. Don't expect him to stay in college after this season. Whispers of Rochester with call ups to the big club for a season are around.

Yea it was first day of camp, but you can just see the skill in a few of the players like Reinhart and Eichel. Some of the drills included full ice length skating with full width passing and these two guys were hitting in stride. If you were there you would understand and see. There was a short length 2v2 drill and thats where I saw certain player's size (fashing) come into play, as well as the compete and defensive coverage from others. That's where I also saw Johansson and Kasdorf with some nice saves and great positioning.

The Verdict:
So, with all this in mind, what do I think about the Sabres’ offseason so far? I think it’s been fantastic. I think they’re probably the most improved team in the NHL. No longer will teams walk into Buffalo expecting to get two points without much trouble. This Sabres group could easily force itself into the ‘bubble team’ conversation this upcoming year, which would be a massive improvement. Credit to Tim Murray for making the moves he needed to make. His team now looks a whole lot better than it did a few weeks ago.

The beady eyed douche is doing OK, I guess.
