Most likely: Morin
Second most likely: Ghost, if he blows them away in camp (especially if MDZ is moved)
Third most likely: Sanheim, if he outplays both of them by a wide margin. - jmatchett383
yea that's what i was thinking. i still think if provo has a strong camp and preseason he makes the squad. im probably wrong tho... just think another year in juniors will do little to no good. |

ok so hextall has a gun to his head and hast to pick a D-prospect other than provorov to make the team, or he gets lead in the head: who does he pick? - JoeRussomanno
ALT, as he doesn't want to rush the top 4 guys..... |

Both he and Sanheim have basically done about all they can at the junior level. However, both Ghost and Morin will have their ELC's in play this year (second year for Ghost). Both Sanheim and Provorov are slide-rule eligible, so sending them back to juniors gives them one more year until RFA and, later, UFA.
Another one of those cases where the AHL would be the preference, but it's not an option. |

Is Alt still a prospect? He'll be less than a month away from 24 by the time the season starts. |

why wouldn't he be? only starting his 3rd year of pro hockey. after this year I wouldn't consider him a prospect.
only 1.5 years older than the great ghost. |

Fair enough. Was just curious when a player stop being a prospect and when he has become a vet. |

I can see both sides of it. The junior leagues need marketable players too, and they don't want to see their best 18 and 19 year olds being taken away by the AHL. It definitely hurts some players development, that is for sure. But honestly it is a small amount of players who actually fit the bill......which is kind of an argument for both sides in a strange way. |

that's just my take. after 3 years of pro hockey they become more suspect than prospect in my eyes. |

It is, but it makes sense financially for the CHL. I still say there should be a system where each NHL organization can have 2-3 CHL-age players on their AHL team, but they have to pay the player's team his full annual NHL salary each year he's there as an underager, no matter if he spends part of the season in the NHL or not.
For instance, let's say the Flyers wanted Provorov to play in the AHL. As soon as he plays 1 game in the AHL (no matter if he starts the season there or gets sent down later), they have to pay Brandon his full AHL salary of $925K or whatever. |

revise the rule that the player can get a 9 game look in the minors, after that he czn do 9 more in the NHL or go back to juniors. i just hate having the development of future stars hamstrung by having to keep the junior leagues upright. |

I still think the teams would rather have the player on the ice, that is what puts butts in the seats.

There certainly DOES need to be some sort of revision to the agreement.

He's got the flyers by the balls. They'll come to an agreement, but Jake has hand. Flyers absolutely can't afford to lose this guy. - Just5
If he goes off the wall, like Art Ross winner off the wall, Flyers are going to be in a world of hurt. |

Oh baby is right. The only thing that gives me pause is what would they be like in Feb, March, etc?
Would they be discouraged from the pressure, the losing, the schedule, the rigors of which they have never experienced?

Why would a player even do that and what are they living on? Squirreled away stipends from his CHL years?
You're going to have to work out some of the giant details on this new agreement you've endorsed. |

1. If they're on the team it'll mostly be winning.
2. They're kids. Boundless energy. |

The player would still get paid as per his contract, but the NHL club would have to pay the junior club the full NHL salary as well. |

My kid is 17. Played 74 games last season. He's been sleeping since march. We change him twice a day. |
