Any idea of what he's looking for? |

32 points in 55 games.
Back when the Leafs made the playoffs, 29 points in 45 games, +4. Played well for the Leafs in the playoffs too, 6 points 7 games.
He's not as bad as he's made out to be. - twiztedmike
Led the club in ice time games 6 and 7. 4.5 per over 4 maybe 5 over 4, at most would be fine... |

While on the Leafs Franson always seemed slow - great shot but slow and I think he will demand big bucks. His lack of defending and skating abilities became even more apparent when he was playing with the Preds - Babs likes puck moving defensemen, hopefully he can work his magic with Dion (if he remains a Leaf) and Gards - BKups
Not seemed slow...he is slow. He and Dion paired together - worst transition pair in the league. |

Franson is not very good. at all. he's ideally suited to a third pairing role with PP time. how the Leafs got that deal from Nashville is a mystery. - DoubleDown
Playing him another offensive minded defenseman like Phaneuf is just really dumb. They both sit at the blueline & both tend to pinch and so that's how the Leafs get so many odd man rushes against them (neither can get back in time). They need to pair Franson with a solid defensive defenseman |

The only defensemen in Leaf history who were better than Franson was Finger and Komisarek. |

I agree Franson is better than most on here say.
He's better than Phaneuf for starters.
Rielly's already better than Franson though.
Gardiner might have a better season as well; I expect Babcock's influence to be very positive on him (and Kadri) since using them according to their strengths (hopefully). - MaximusAurelius

It sounds like he really loves the Leafs and probably grew up loving them. I bet you he takes a discount for some security and an NTC. |

Well, Dion's best run as a Leaf was with him before they fired the coach. The whole reason it worked is because Franson gets the puck out, those guys spent half the time in their end that Dion was with other d m men... Dion is a hard slap around the boards type, not a proper break out type... |

Not sure what the purpose would be long term - other than to fill a roster spot - guess they need someone to play. |

Well of course yes.
Franson is less of a defensive liability than Phaneuf is, and puts up better numbers.
That's what I see with my eyes.
The advanced stats numbers confirm it.
Hence my statement that Franson is better than Phaneuf.
Franson is also a 'better human being' than Phaneuf |
