I don't think Voracek will be a happy camper
- Streit2ThePoint

I don't think Giroux would be thrilled, either.

I guess they had a better chance to get Medvedev and took him. Adding another D right now would be adding to an already crowded blue line.

im serious though, i dont think its impossible for the new coach to get a decent season out of him
- Crimsoninja

I'm open to the possibility, although it's far more of a hope, then a belief. I don't feel the Flyers have the personell for him to be a fit.

meh the guy had a toxic relationship with the coach

I just think he might benefit from a fresh start with the new guy, thats all

I think Lecavalier took it personally, which I think he was wrong for. If had played well enough, he would've gotten the playing time. I supported Lecavalier as much as anyone. There is no way his level of play justified more icetime, or a role on a higher line.

I know.

I like him too. I just think this roster still needs some shuffling and if he could get an impact defender or maybe a pure sniper I would be ok with it.

I think it's a futile exercise to guess line combos with a new coach, but I would not be in favor of those line combos. Although I admit that whatever combination is put together, there is bound to be some issues somewhere.

I thought he seemed to struggle sometimes keeping up with the play. Also he didn't seem to adapt to any role. Usually if your not scoring then your really try to play good d or be good on the forecheck. Simplify your game. He just didn't seem to do that other then that little stretch him, Bellemare and Vandevelde were on a role.

The defense is still our biggest issue. No matter what prospects do/don't make the team, and no matter whether or not MDZ is resigned, there will still be glaring holes in each combo barring a trade to bring in a #1 defender.

He seemed to have a cycle.
Get into a game. Play your ass off for 1-2 games. Coast for a while. Become healthy scratch for a while. Get into a game. Play your ass off for 1-2 games. Coast for a while. No thanks.

I would prefer the player be younger. I am not all that into Bobby Ryan.

Also did Mike Hoffman sign yet in Ottawa? I like him if somehow he doesn't get singed in Ottawa.

The Medvedev signing was thought by some to be a precursor to signing Zaitsev to ease his transition. He was rumoured to be signing with Toronto shortly after that but then his agent said it wasn't happening. As far as I know he's getting ready for the KHL season.

Lecavalier is a scoring line player that needs to play center or RW, and he needs to play with a playmaker to be effective. I don't think that at this point Lecavalier can, or will remake his game into being a 2 way winger and forechecker. He wasn't a great skater to start with, and he never seemed to fully recover from his back injury in my opinion. Before that he was still capable.

It is, but I believe if the Flyers improve their overall team game, the Flyers defense can be a decent squad, and good enough to contend for a playoff spot.

I'm really excited to see Medvedev. I found some highlights of him from a Russian youtube account. He looks like he skates REALLY well, but that was on the big European ice. Just excited to see how our 32 year old rookie pans out

Absolutely. If the forward can help out and not stand in the neutral zone awaiting 60-foot passes, they'll help the defense out tremendously and will help alleviate a lot of pressure.

I understand all that but there were still little things he could have done. And even not a great skater there are things to do to be effective. In a way Brendan Morrow wasn't a great skater but he was able to do some things to be effective. Get in hard on the forecheck. Play good defense. Be physical.

No one was asking him to be a selke award winner. Just if your not on a scoring line then you need to do other things to help if you want to play.

As long as it goes better than our last 32-year-old European rookie I'll be okay with it.

Edit: Sorry, Dopita was 33...and drafted twice.

On the other hand the way Berube juggled lines like they were going out of style it was pretty hard for just about all of them to play consistently.
