I always say you can't fix stupid. Only thing I can think of dumber than playing with fireworks, is getting 2 DUI's in the span of 18 months.

FWIW: If VLC is still here in October, he will be a spare forward. He can only play effectively in a top 6 role, and IMO, he just doesn't have what takes to play at that level any more. Umberger OTOH, may still be able to be an effective top 9 forwrad if healthy, but I'm very doubtful that he will be able to stay healthy for very long.

I understand all that but there were still little things he could have done. And even not a great skater there are things to do to be effective. In a way Brendan Morrow wasn't a great skater but he was able to do some things to be effective. Get in hard on the forecheck. Play good defense. Be physical.

No one was asking him to be a selke award winner. Just if your not on a scoring line then you need to do other things to help if you want to play.

I understood what you were saying, I'm just not of the believe that Lecavalier can remake his game. Morrow in addition to being a good offensive player, had a physical checking element to his game, where Lecavalier did not. I agree that if you're not on a scoring line, you need to other things. I just don't think Lecavalier can do that at this point.

On the other hand the way Berube juggled lines like they were going out of style it was pretty hard for just about all of them to play consistently.

Cart before the horse maybe? I think the lack of consistent play, is what caused the line juggling. He was constantly looking for some kind of fit, to be more than just a one line team. I think it's part of what happens, when you don't have the right mix.

I don't know, back during the trade deadline, when LA dealt for Sekera, a certain source said the player sucked. Now it's we could've signed him. I'd rather have Sekara also rather than Lecavalier, but the consensus is that they don't want the Flyers getting into long term deals for players.
