I think McNabb absolutely doesn't deserve to be a hall of fame inductee, but I think he gets in because he was a big name and people are stupid. If you look at his career, he almost never won a game the Eagles weren't the favorite in and consistently came up SMALL in big games. - flyerscup2011
i always said that eagles team thrived in a bad conference. iirc they were playing 8-8 teams in the playoffs. |

Unfortunately yes.... However I still think Manning slides in to top 7 IF he can be consistent and play like he did last year when he was here.

does anyone here think ge's getting in the Hall? i know he's already proclaimed himself a "future hallof famer" - JoeRussomanno
McNabb's numbers probably come up a bit short, but he's probably a lot closer than you think he is judging by the tone of this post. |

I thought big Luke would have been dealt by now. Someone will have to go. I would be happy with a 3rd in return - 3flyerkids
Del Zotto may end up being the one they let go. |

The Eagles, from 2000 to 2010 faced 2 teams in the playoffs with 8 - 8 records.
The 2006 Giants
The 2004 Vikings
That's out of 19 games. |

I wouldn't have a problem if they moved him for a top 6 winger. |

it's not really that I don't like him, but proclaiming something like that about yourself is cause for humor. |

I think that you were attempting to say (and I could be wrong) that they
1) played in a bad conference, and
2) only played teams with 8/9 wins in the playoffs under McNabb.
They were the best team in the conference for the majority of McNabb's time there. It was generally and average to below average conference. Nothing he could do about that.
Yes, they had 4 out of 19 playoff games against team with 8/9 win seasons. Again, there is nothing he can do about that.
I don't think he should be in the HOF either. But it has nothing to do with his opponents and everything to do with the fact that I don't think he was a top-tier QB long enough to warrant it. |

Stats and facts
http://www.bleedinggreenn...hall-of-fame-quarterbacks
My opinion is that the stats say he is borderline. - MBFlyerfan
He's probably the best QB in franchise history (stats being part of the equation), definitely the best since Jaws (sorry Randall). That said, Westbrook and the JJ-led defense were probably bigger keys to the team that McNabb was. I think he's a very good QB. That's about the end of it, for me. |

i suppose if i implied #2 then yes i would be wrong. i can agree that the conference was average to below average even if I casually dismissed it as "bad"... your opponents do matter however. No you can't choose your opponents but if your competition is weak you're going to look better than you are. as for Mcnabb he's done very little to warrant being in the hall. his 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives are almost non existent in the post season and not quite high enough in the regular season. he never threw for over 4k yards in a season and thats been a feat average qb's are able to accomplish since even he was playing. furthermore quite a few eagle seasoms ended on Mcnabb interceptions. he was a good qb, won some games made the plays he had to make, but he is not a hall of famer. Just look at Danny white's career very comparable to McNabbs stats, not in the hall, rightfully so.

37000ish to 21000ish passing yards.
Actually they aren't even remotely close. And I was a big DW fan, and do not like McNabb all that much. |

Chris Osgood is basically Patrick Roy. Won 3 Cups to Roy's 4. Both are top-10 all time in wins, playoff wins, have led the league and playoffs in season GAA, both played in multiple ASG...they're pretty much the same. |
