In all seriousness his next contract I think will be fascinating, to see how Hextall handles it.

In the past when they had a perceived core player they went for the contract with crazy long years.

I am hoping with Jake the deal is not too long. 4-5 years would be ideal. Doubt it happens but we'll see. 5-6 years would be a nice compromise, 7-8 is too long IMO.

But as you have the higher cap hit then you limit yourself in keeping players as well. So maybe you can't keep a core player because you sacrificed years for the higher money. Especially since this team will start to become a solid team in about 2-3 years.
