no... but they're going to take a big step and compete for a spot well into the winter. i think it's too much to ask to make the playoffs this year. |

Honestly, he hasn't done that much. Not to mention he actually doesn't play the games. All PC has done that wasn't gifted to him (McDavid) is:
Replace Petry with Sekera
Swap Marincin for Gryba (6th dman)
Replace 4th Line Centres
Acquire a 3LW
Acquire another promising backup
Honestly alot of the heavy lifting for this team has been done by MacT, his biggest mistake in my opinion was the hiring of Eakins I really think that move set us back. - rathagor
well he didn't trade Petry for a bag of pucks so that's not really fair. he acquired the top dman on the UFA market. the Reinhart acquisition was under the radar and could prove to be a great, great trade down the line since he looks ready to step into a full time role. Talbot is a quality goalie and represents a low-risk upgrade over the junk the Oilers have been running out there. he did a really nice job of bringing in some professionals to supplement the young guys, and he did it without giving up that much. |

I have read everybody's comments on here. I agree with a lot of what is said mostly with our goaltending and defense. But there is absolutely no doubt that Mcdavid (playing a full season 70+ games) will post huge numbers playing with any of our top 6 wingers. It will be 100+ points for sure at 70+ games played. This hype for this kid is not just from the oilers community its been going on since he was 14 just like Crosby etc.. So whatever these numbers do for oilers in terms of wins we can bet on that! One thing that is not unproven is Mcdavid production, dominate play and his generational talent that has been reiterated by every professional scout in North America over and over again . So for oilers fan's we have one look that we know we can look forward to! |

You can't say that he will get 100 points + for sure. There wasn't a single player in the league who got 100 points last year |

No.
Too much change to the team - new coach, system, players and even management.
The time it will take for all that to come together will cost the Oilers too many points early in the season. I suspect they will have a fairly strong second half, but not enough to make up the difference.
I also do not see them drafting in the top 10, unless the win the lottery again given the new rules... |

I sure as hell hope so. If they finish with another lottery pick ill hijack the team photo session. Right when they say cheese the camera is switched with my ass violently shooting diarrhea at them. |

He also added Reinhart, has opened a second buyout window, he brought in McLellan, brought in another goaltender for a minor amount of money.
I have nothing against MacT, but I think ChiaPet has done quite a bit. - ChetManly

I agree but you forgot to mention how crazy the West is. And they only got better with hamilton to calagry, Lucic to kings and ward to sharks. Make all teams in division better. - hanleyaj
WTF does Ward bring?? LA has gotten significantly younger- placing alot of potential with Lucic who doesnt have much left in the tank IMO- but will look exceptional by the committee he will now play with... Hamilton will need to adjust some too... West>East |

Agree... He still has all assets intact to make a move if needed... Plus there is the Seabrook talks... |

Well I just did....got a few bets with people that always have that same argument about last year. Year before was 104 before that was 60 in the short 48 season. Also the two before that was 109 and 104. So that 87 last season doesn't really have an argument on our average leading point totals in the NHL. All I am saying is for oilers fans and fans out west believe the hype and enjoy it because like I said before is if he plays a season he will be in the top of the league in points and if everybody else decides to max out in the 80 point totals again then I guess he will 1st. OHL almost three point's a game NHL he will drop to 1.5 or so. |

Come one man, scoring is going down every year. You are expecting way too much from mcdavid. Tone it down sonny Jim |

We did all this in 05' when Crosby was drafted. There was no toning down then. Same with Gretzky, Lemieux etc... When there good there good |

Not even Crosby could bring his team anywhere close to the playoffs his rookie year and he ended up with over 100 pts - Streit2ThePoint
Yes but the 2005-2006 Pens had great players at the time. Hell Lemeiux was still on the Roster not to mention Pens had a goalie not a backup who might be ready for a starting position. the 2005-2006 Pens would skate circles around todays Edmonton team |

Mario played 26 games. Fleury was a rookie who went 13-27. They had nobody with Crosby let alone a winger that went top ten in point totals in the NHL in two of his first 5 years(see hall stats) |

Ya.. And now it's 10 years later where points have drastically went down. It's not the same league as it used to be. Nobody even hit 100 last year and I don't think anybody did the year before either but I could be wrong. Bottom line is goals are down, put down the cool aid. |

Check my other post. Look back at the stats even in the 48 game season 60pts was tops. 104 last year and over 100 years prier to that. I don't know how many people have brought up last year when it comes to point total expectations for Mcdavid. Just doesn't make sense to me that's all. Its like last year is the expectation for point totals from here on out in the nhl and supposable dropping, math doesn't add up for this guy. |
