Spector was talking about it almost from the day after McLellan was let go. And PC even admitted he barely knew McLellan at all prior to talking to him in Prague. - Flameout

Gotta think rationally here..
Game has changed, 100 point seasons will be extremely rare soon enough. Only the elite of the elite will get there. - Sirmerksalot
excluding last year, only a couple guys have reached that 100 mark per year over the last decade. even less in a few seasons I think.
to assume mcdavid will be our 2nd line center and be among the top 2 or 3 scorers in the game at 18 years old is abit silly.
I do think he'll be among those in time, but not right outta the gates
Pretend last year didn't happen. Now look at every other year. Last years point totals just dropped and it wasn't gradual. if you go back and look at all five years before that its pretty close to the same. So no expectations for the future of the NHL scoring totals should be passed off based on last year. - NorthofE-Town
Lets pretend the last 30 years didn`t happen and Kevin Lowe was leading the charge with Messier and Gretzky in tow...... here we are
The west is loaded but I can see Vancouver not making it and the Oilers, Kings, & Jets fighting for the 8th spot! How are all the young blue-liners looking?

not ready to do anything of real consequence.
we aint a playoff team yet. playing meaningful games in march would be nice
2010-11 - Vancouver - 258 goals
Top scorer - D.Sedin - 109 points
Points by Forward: 104, 94, 73, 50, 48, 39, 30
If we are expecting McDavid to get 2nd line time I think it's realistic to expect 40+ points however since we likely won't be the top scoring team this year I wouldn't expect more than 50. If McDavid takes over as the #1 center that may change. And again anybody on the third line expect them to get less than 40 points. - rathagor
I wasn't looking at the top scoring teams I was looking at the top scorers in the NHL over the past years. McDavid could get 150 next year and the oilers could still not be the top scoring team in the NHL.. Like I said before I am not talking about the oilers as a group scoring. I'm just talking about McDavid and what he will produce next year at minimum. I wouldn't expect the oilers to make for playoffs for sure, I wouldn't expect the Blackhawks to win another cup. I wouldn't expect a person to score more than 60 goals. But I expect McDavid to get 100+ points if he plays a full NHL season. Also if you look at first line and second line center minutes per season I bet any team that's ever had two top end talent centers they are so close in minutes that its not even worth talking about ie.. Crosby& Malkin

As stated before, Crosby had 100+ in his rookie year and the Penguins didn't make the playoffs.
Hockey is a team sport, and the Oilers results depend on every player, the systems, and how they win hockey games. For example, the 2014-2015 Calgary Flames.

on top of that, people should stop with their boner for McDavid's points total. Let him play. - ChetManly
Cant stop, I've had a Mcboner since the draft lottery. I think why a lot of people are like me is because if you followed him at all you would of said there is no chance that the oilers will get him by the time he is draft eligible they will be rebuilt and boom they one it.
No you didn't misunderstand I meant rookie season. He will see 160 in his career also I do agree there has been point drops over the years that's why no matter how good a person is they will never ever come close to Wayne's point totals 92 goals 200+ point season. - NorthofE-Town
Alright man, who do you really cheer for, and why are you trolling the Oilers?

40 is a little low, his NHLE was 63, Crosbys' was 62. We should expect 50-60 IMO

He might, but I suspect like the last few season the Oilers are going to spend too much time in their own end and it's going to impact his point totals.
your integrity as a hockey expert as now been comprimised.
it's not about offense - it's about defense - of which the oilers have none of. their offense is better this year? who cares? their offense was already top tier last year - a strong offense doesn't indicate a strong defense - nor will it help when that defense can't get the puck to the offense - what would you rather have - a good mix of offense and defense who all play 2-way or just an amazing offense which consists of almost zero 2-way players (mcdavid will struggle defensively this year and RNH is arguable the only formidable 2-way threat).
top 3 in the pacific? are you kidding me - saeed015

First of all, disagreement and personal attacks are two different things. It's fine by me if people - all of them even - disagree. If people aren't disagreeing with you, it's because you're just saying the same thing as everyone else.
And, if the popularity of things like Glee, the Foo Fighters or the Notebook has taught us anything, it's that popular opinion is usually laughable.
The Oilers were a decent possession team sandbagged by injuries and bad luck + being unable to overcome having a #1 D or goalie.
Talbot has nothing to prove since he was nearly indistinguishable from Lundquivst over his two seasons on the NHL. It's more than reasonable to think he'll be good. All of the Oilers players are young - even Hall and are only improving.
Adding McDavid is being crazy underrated here.
#1 in the West is more likely then them missing the Playoffs. - James_Tanner
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
