I understand all the Foligno sucks legion but why are we working so hard to get rid of somebody that is cheap and can fill a role, meaning 3rd or 4th line, when guys like Legwand are both not the answer and will be gone after this year?
Unless a top 4 D comes back as part of a package that includes Foligno, why get rid of him? He's cheap now and will be going forward. - kingcong39
We don't need Foligno |

I don't hate foligno, his dad was my favorite sabre
IMO they need a top 4 d man aand have to package a few guys to get him and IMO Foligno is a name that should be considered as there will probably never be a place for him on our top 6 if he gets it together and I'd rather have a better d man here and someone not named foligno on the 4th line then have foligno on the 4th line |

dude...no question...but what we fans have gone through the last two seasons I would wish on no one - Michael Pachla
Yeah but without that you don't get top end talent.
Unless you have absolute stellar scouts and development program (like top 5 in the league at least) - you can't build a top team from a crappy team unless you do be really really bad for a couple of seasons.
He's done a good job in getting Evander Kane, Robin Lehner - two guys that some might say have bad attitudes, but work with them and you could really showcase those high ceilings.
What are the lines next year? |

I like him, but he is a role player, and deslauriers provides a very similar skill set. If he gets moved for help on d im good with it. Im not big on advanced stats, deslauriers was one of the worst players in the league as far as advanced stats. Anybody know how foligno was?

Or sign Oduya for 3 years and keep the prospects. I know it takes two to tango but there's a better chance than ever that Oduya leaves chi |

I don't agree with this if Murray does this, he's not going to get us 12-15 goals |

I agree. I wanted him at the start of free agency but was reminded of his days before joining the hawks, he was a giveaway machine.
He's not the guy you want if you're trying to make a run for 8th. |

I'm hoping he's not focused on Oduya like he was ROR, I don't think Oduya is worth north of 4 a year and in my opinion he's not worth 4. That seems to be the going rate I guess |

The guy has been irrelevant until he played some solid defense for a small stretch of his career.
Suddenly he's the next great superstar...at age 33. |

Don't shoot the messenger I took my son to see the new Minion movie and my phone went off with the text that they want to offer him more money. IMO Oduya is a product of how good the Hawks are |

Murray must really want him, or doesn't like the D as is currently and just wants somebody. |

They're better off signing Jan Hejda or Zidlicky on a 1 year contract then over paying for Oduya at this point. |

As much as I like Deslauriers, he and Foligno are not the same player.
Foligno is better.
There are distorted perceptions of Foligno because people expect him to be a top 6 player (not sure when that was ever going to be the case in his career unless the kool aid was consumed the first bunch of games he played) and the same holds true for Deslauriers because he plays well for a 4th line player which is all people expect of him.
Deslauriers is a 4th line player. Foligno is a 3rd/4th line player.
If both are on your 4th line, to me it means you have a very strong top 9 and you are rolling 4 lines consistently and likely winning a lot of games. |
