it was all planned lol they are friends - gerbe75pts
I didn't say they weren't. But hockey gets competitive and in the moment things happen. Don't know if you were there but I was sitting 15 rows up behind the net gold shot on twice and saw Fasching shove Eichel and they chirped. Must've been "planned" since they're in the same organization |

Not all of them will, some will surpass.
Having a much improved offense will help the D as well. 10-15 is where we will be picking. Closer to the playoffs than the lottery - Stripes77
With a team as young/inexperienced as they are, you can't really make a definitive statement like that.
If Ristolainen regresses even slightly that team gives up just as many goals as it did last year, even with the improved offence.
depending on who the top 4 d-man they add is, i could see them picking anywhere from 1-9. |

So when Chapman knocked Kea on his ass that was planned? When Kea got up and chirped him into a fight that was planned? Idk what you were watching but the kid can skate imo. Will he ever play in Buffalo? Probably not but he'd be a good Rochester pickup - thezemgustrain
Chapman didn't knock Kea on his arse, it was maxwell Willman who went down. Kea came on via a line change and they had their scrap. |

It's not like it's a bad thing. look at the records of teams who draft around 5, 6 or 7 that'd be a colossal improvement for this team. And that top 10 pick becomes a key trade asset. |

10-15 range is where they will be picking when its all said and done IMO.
Adding 4 very talented players to the top 6 will do wonders.
They still need to add a top 4 D but just good top 6 forwards will help the D out tremendously, oh and a competent coach to boot.
Kane- 55-60 points ROR 55-60 points Ennis 50-60 points
Moulson 45-50 points Eichel 45-50 points Reinhart 45-50 points
McGinn 30-40 points Girgensons 30-40 points Gionta 30-40 points
Folingo 20-30 points Legwand 20-30 points Larrson 20-30 points
When Brian Flynn with 17 points in in the top 10 on your team in scoring as he was last year(even after being dealt at the deadline) something is very wrong.
There will be a lot of improvements. The Sabres imo will be closer to the playoffs than the lottery. - Stripes77

how does this look for sabres depth chart?
not as familiar with the team as you guys, let me know what you think.
What are the needs for the rest of the off-season?
Kane - O'Reilly - Ennis
Moulson - Reinhart - Eichel
Foligno - Legwand - Gionta
McGinn - Girgensons - Deslauriers
McCormick - Larsson
Gorges - Ristolainen
Weber - Bogosian
Mccabe - Pysyk
Ruhdewel - Colaiacovo
Lehner
Johnson - k1234
Good attempt but girgs won't be 4th line, eichel and reinhart won't be paired together (and certainly not with Eichel on the wing) and if Weber is second line D we are in seriously trouble

I actually think there is a good chance Reinhart plays on Eichel's wing |

You have 6 guys projecting over 45 points. We had 0 last year.
We aren't just going to start lighting the world on fire yet.
Just imagine when Bogosian inevitably gets hurt for his annual 15-20 games and Josh Gorges or Mike Weber get pushed into the top 3-4.
We also have 0 clue what Lehner will do. |

I'll humor you. Let's use Columbus as a comparable. They were middle of the pack last year and that's the best case scenario for buffalo next season imo.
Foligno 73
Johansen 71
hartnell 60
Atkinson 40
dubinsky 36
anisimov 27
Calvert 23
wennberg 20
letestu 13
skilled 8
That's essentially their top 10 forwards.....and you think forwards 10-12 for us will put up at least 20 points. Doubt it.
Thanks for putting me to work.

My projections:
Kane- 55-60 points ROR 55-60 points Ennis 50-60 points
Moulson 45-50 points Eichel 45-50 points Reinhart 45-50 points
McGinn 30-40 points Girgensons 30-40 points Gionta 30-40 points
Folingo 20-30 points Legwand 20-30 points Larrson 20-30 points
Last 3 year averages:
Kane .648 ppg played in 74 percent of the games so his average is 41 points, he missed over half of last years games which significantly lowers his percentage of games played.
ROR .727 ppg played in 90% of the games and was a hold out contract issue in the short season. So averages out to 54 points
Ennis .585 ppg played in 97% of the games also scored 46 points on the worst team in the league last year. Averaged out to 46 points ppg is 4 more points out of reach?
Moulson: .683 ppg played in 94% of the games 53 points
Eichel and Reinhart are question marks
Girgensons: hit 30 points in 61 games last season
McGinn: .455 ppg almost missed 3/4th of the games last year but only missed 4 total games in the previous 2 seasons 68% averaged to 26 points
Gionta: Scored 35 points in 69 games last season. Sure he point totals are falling due his career winding down but he still contributes.
So again averages in the last 3 years with games played taken into consideration.
My totals aren't far fetched at all. Sure new team, new linemates etc will play into these things, some will click sooner than others, some will have break out years (Ennis, Girgensons) some will regress a little, but there is no reason (barring some major career injuries) these totals cannot be reached. |

We had 1 and we also added 4 players to the top 6.
You can think what you want I will do the same. People are acting like I am saying we will have 5 ppg players on this team. |

Nice research but, all of those numbers with the top end guys were with different teams and players in different situations. With that being said I don't have as much issue with the top two lines as I do with the bottom two lines. I think there is no chance the sabres 4th line projects out to where you have them....and they weren't mentioned in the above post... |
