My projections:

Kane- 55-60 points ROR 55-60 points Ennis 50-60 points
Moulson 45-50 points Eichel 45-50 points Reinhart 45-50 points
McGinn 30-40 points Girgensons 30-40 points Gionta 30-40 points
Folingo 20-30 points Legwand 20-30 points Larrson 20-30 points

Last 3 year averages:

Kane .648 ppg played in 74 percent of the games so his average is 41 points, he missed over half of last years games which significantly lowers his percentage of games played.

ROR .727 ppg played in 90% of the games and was a hold out contract issue in the short season. So averages out to 54 points

Ennis .585 ppg played in 97% of the games also scored 46 points on the worst team in the league last year. Averaged out to 46 points ppg is 4 more points out of reach?

Moulson: .683 ppg played in 94% of the games 53 points

Eichel and Reinhart are question marks

Girgensons: hit 30 points in 61 games last season

McGinn: .455 ppg almost missed 3/4th of the games last year but only missed 4 total games in the previous 2 seasons 68% averaged to 26 points

Gionta: Scored 35 points in 69 games last season. Sure he point totals are falling due his career winding down but he still contributes.

So again averages in the last 3 years with games played taken into consideration.

My totals aren't far fetched at all. Sure new team, new linemates etc will play into these things, some will click sooner than others, some will have break out years (Ennis, Girgensons) some will regress a little, but there is no reason (barring some major career injuries) these totals cannot be reached.

Also, I know I am working in a bubble but getting back to a team like columbis.

They had about 425 points from their top 4 lines....you are projecting the sabres to be between 445 and 540. I just don't see them going from the bottom of the league to a top 10 or 5 scoring team even with all the awesome players we picked up.

Nice research but, all of those numbers with the top end guys were with different teams and players in different situations. With that being said I don't have as much issue with the top two lines as I do with the bottom two lines. I think there is no chance the sabres 4th line projects out to where you have them....and they weren't mentioned in the above post...
- bjm1717

I can project them if you'd like I just didn't feel like putting more effort here.

But I'll humor you

Foligno: put up 20 points last year .32 ppg last 3 years 84% of the games 22 points

Legwand: missed 1 game in 3 years (well he played 83 2 seasons ago) his game has significantly tailed off but still put up 27 points last year so projecting him out isn't fair because his previous 2 years he was a good player.

Larsson: 16 points in 39 games, most of which while centering the top line.

Bylsma rolls 4 lines IMO

He'll probably have burgeron type numbers in his rookie season. Points and in the dot. Book it.

So using 425 points from C-Bus as your base is 20 more points really that inconceivable? That's like scoring maybe 8 more total goals from your forwards than C-Bus did last year...

I absolutely agree that is not as far fetched, but according to your numbers, that is worst case scenario...outscoring a middle of the pack team. The higher number of 540 is way off imo.

I hope I'm wrong.

As of today I would agree with that statement.

Sam has a much higher ceiling imo.

Good ol' Hockeybuzz.
Where everyone knows better than you and they are sure to tell you so.
That stench is sooo old.
I wish that some of the "know it alls" here dabbled in the stock market as much as they dabble here, I may actually want to pick their minds or care to know "how much they think they know".
I mean -----good grief seriously, some of you need to take a hiatus .

We had 1 and we also added 4 players to the top 6.

You can think what you want I will do the same. People are acting like I am saying we will have 5 ppg players on this team.

- Stripes77

I get that, but you are assuming an 18 year old Eichel, and 19 year old Reinhart will just come in and be NHL top 6 forwards.

It's a very real possibility that Ryan O'Reilly leads this team in scoring with under 55 points

Ennis had 46 points last year and was one of the only bright spots, so what you're saying is O'Reilly is only good for 50? Come on, Ennis had Johan Larsson centering him towards the end of the season.

Nope not gonna happen I guess...

One guy will put up 60 another guy could only get 40 but the averages should be in that range
