Nope not gonna happen I guess...
One guy will put up 60 another guy could only get 40 but the averages should be in that range - Stripes77
I think one line clicks and we get 3 players in the 65-70 point range
(waits for the pile on to occur) |

That would be ideal I would love it.
I would be happy with 3 players above 60! |

I apologize, I'm really not argumentative, but we are never on the same page.
You think we will have 7 guys in at least the top 90 in scoring???
The blackhawks only had 4...
I just don't think it will happen. |

How many young teams have actually managed to go from bottom feeder to playing to their exact potential in one year? I admire the optimism, but it's exactly this kind of sky high thinking that leads to people wanting good players gone because they couldn't meet those expectations instantly. |

Blackhawks only had 6 guys over 40, and 3 of them under 50.
We won't score like them. Not even close |

Keep in mind forwards also get a lot of extra points when they get to play with good play making offensive defencemen. We currently have 0 on the nhl roster. |

they were 16th in goals scored
I doubt they will be in the top 16 next season
the hawks are not a powerhouse roster, they lean heavily on 7 or 8 players
this roster the sabres have is constructed a lot closer to the bolts roster and if hedman was healthy they would have had 7 players over 45 points |

people keep going back t how blah the sabres were at scoring last year
here is a little hockey 101
when you add 4 guys in your top 6, your roster becomes better it many ways
your guys playing on the first line last season are going down a line and in turn going to be in better position to improve their point per minute production
same holds for the second line player dropping to the third line
the pp will improve ten-fold as well putting up much better numbers, middle of the pack is my guess
it's a reverse of what happened when roy and vanek were forced to go from playing on the third line vs the competition they faced on the first line once briere and drury walked

I have not seen a team add 4 legit guys to their top 6 moving froward from one season to the next
ever
this is what has me excited
pp qb is needed still
if the sabres pulled what the islanders did late last summer, adding leddy and boychuk, there will be legit reason for optimism IMO |

Eichel is 18 and Reinhart is 19. They are not top 6 NHL players yet.
We added 2, one that is a pretty good defensive center, and another that hasn't scored over 20 goals in 4 years.

Huge if imo. They stole boychuk, it's unlikely murray finds a number 2 for that little. |

Side note Cornel. Looks like a wasted pick has not impressed me - gerbe75pts
My uncle used to have Peterborough petes seasons. I asked him about cornel when we drafted him, he said the petes were expecting big things from him when they drafted him, never really got there. Lotsa talent, meh results. |

that fight was planned days ago lol .. and he is slow as molasses
good for the AHL nothing more IMO - gerbe75pts
Where to you get your assumptions from? You weren't even at the game, seeing Chapman, (AHL maybe player) had a real nasty in him all night, he laid out two wingers and gave hell to anybody that met him along the wall. Fun to see a kid lay it all out there.
The fight was a culmination of anger from the Blue squad after Chapman had manhandled a number of players then blasted "William" on to his back , open ice major hit, then KEA and him threw more REAL punches than I've seen in most NHL fights, none of that pull on my sweater while I look away down at the ice, they threw bombs each landing a number of times. Chapman went off bleeding from his forhead and eye, smiling! |

Although in a few years it might look like the bolts roster, it probably won't next year. That's why I used chicago, because they were a middle of the road scoring team. I think middle of the road scoring is best case for the sabres next season.

Thanks for the lesson, professor.
But all of that seems like common sense to me.
I don't think it would be possible for the power play to improve ten fold....
All of that said 7 guys in the top 90 probably won't happen imo. |
