I always enjoy reading such intellectual comments from posters such as Surreyoiler with their vast knowledge on how big of losers we are and how much our management sucks. Clearly an oilers fan would know all about $hitty management and proper development of younger players.

Baertschi has the makings of an NHL forward and I am confident he will become one. But the Oiler core (first rounders you mentioned) are not busts. Good players, bad team. Not the same thing.

Exactly. Hall was supposed to be a prize, then RNH who is pretty much a bust, then yakopov who cant even be traded now. How long before Mcdavid is destroyed into an untradable wreck? Seems to be oilers operating policy.

Nuge may not be as flashy as the other two, but he is by far the most defensively responsible of the three. Still manages to put up decent #'s as well. I agree with you on Klefbom, but I have high hopes.

Oil have had 4/6 first overall picks out of the past 6 years. When you see ONE minute in the playoffs come back and we'll talk. I'm on board with the Oilers getting better as I can see it happening with Chiarelli...time will tell.

Overall team improvement has been much slower than most hoped. But not making the playoffs does not instantly label the players on said team as "busts". poop happens. The Canucks team the year before last is a good example of this. Fortunately you guys were able to rebound relatively quickly with timely changes.

Which is sad, some of the Oiler fans that come here on occasion are actually pretty cool people.
