May be am overreaction but terminating his contract and making a firm example of him may go a long way to keeping the rest of your young ish players in line.

But it's more likely they wag their finger at him and tell him to promise not to do it again.

Not that O'Reilly showed character flaws before, but this is the risk you take when you go after guys like him and Kane.

Funny thing is, I would have thought O'Reilly would have been the safest move so far.

He didn't kill or hit a person so he'll be charged with fleeing the scene under the highway traffic act of ontario (less serious than criminal code) but it can still carry prison time. (this would be where that big ass signing bonus could help him)

On a serious note, I've never seen any hint of similar behavior with him so it could well be one very bad decision and not indicative of his character. On the not so serious side, hey hockey related news!

We're just going to have to wait this out for a week or so... Maybe more to find out if the Sabres or NHL will suspend him... In the mean time get ready for guys like Sully and Bucky and a bunch of self righteous armature bloggers to come out with the Sabres need to terminate his contract etc... Hopefully he doesn't get suspended. Was planning on buying tickets for the home opener this week...
