yeah it does suck a little but i cant see any serious consequences in terms of the nhl. I think it may have hurt the team mentally more than anything, but were quite a ways away from the season for all i know it will be a little blip on the radar and forgotten quickly. - gerbe42
It's just that we just payed him a lot, expecting big things from him. And the first thing he does as a Sabre is crash his truck into a Tim Hortons. Kind of funny from an outside point of view. It wouldn't be Buffalo if the best player we've acquired in years didn't get drunk and smash into something.
If we had it your way our teams would be filled with Ryan Fitzpatrick's and Nathan Gerbe's... Sometimes winners are wieners in real life. I don't condone Kromer's actions but as for the other issue at hand you need to put your morals aside here. - bluengold12

I am also just finding out about this. Been in NC for the weekend white water rafting.
Sabres player or not, He needs to be made an example of. Pegula needs to step up if the NHL does not. Suspend him for the first 10 games of the season without pay.

He's implying that if you have money and stature, you're most likely going to get an opportunity to plea down to a lesser charge and lighter sentence than you would if you didn't.

So I don't condone driving while under an impaired state...no matter what the legal term is...DUI, DWi, etc.
That said, I also believe the punishment needs to be commensurate with the infraction. When the Alcohol level is converted to our measurement in The States, it equals 0.08 ... Which is barely impaired LEGALLY.
To me the bigger issue is what he did afterwords...by leaving the scene, and then ditching the truck and continuing to try to avoid responsibility on foot.
For the Sabres, THAT should be the issue for a guy they want to be a leader and mentor the youngins.
Therefore, the punishment from the Sabres should focus on that issue, in my mind.
Let the legal system deal with the impaired driving issue.

This is untrue at least here. What is true is that good lawyers can be more effective in getting people off drinking and driving type charges. They tend to be more technical (are the machines calibrated properly, how much time from offence to when he was tested, was testing done right, etc). Obviously, guys like ROR can get better lawyers so more money and stature do increase your chances.
His best bet though is to plead guilty right away. He will end up with a criminal record, driving prohibitions, some other conditions but no jail time.

Didnt they test him at .08 well after the incident? Meaning his BAC was higher when the incident happened.
Regardless of that, he needs to be suspended for both. You set an example for your young organization that nothing will be tolerated, regardless of "name recognition"

The charge would be for being over the limit. There's no info on how far over. The tests need to happen within a specific time after the incident.

I expect Sabres to lick up Johnny Oduya. He and Hjalmarsson were Chicago's shut down D pair in playoffs, Cup Finals

Before we go all ape crazy on ROR and base opinions on these reports, I'd like to hear from him and his side of it. It's bad no question and the Sabres are in a bit of a spot here but I have this feeling it'll sort itself out. The Sabres are investing a lot of money in him and have a decision to make as to what they want to do.
I just prefer to be more open minded and here the whole story. In the end the Sabres will need to do something about him. I don't want to make a knee jerk reaction at this point.

He will be suspended from the NHL for a handful of games.
He now has to get a machine put in his car to test him periodically.
I don't think it will be an issue... but the border does not have to let him into the States now.

i prefer the Jesse Jackson approach.. take the little information we have from the media that was worded as poorly as we can and work up the masses until they riot.... lets storm the FNC and demand that he be kicked off the team
