I'm relatively certain the US doesn't give a poop. It's Canada that has a problem. - TheSabresTaco
No, it's both ways. Have a few friends that work for Customs. |

Trying to cross the border into the US as a Canadian with a criminal record is not trivial, just as trying to enter Canada as an American with a criminal record is difficult. Getting back into your homeland is not a problem, it's getting to the other country that poses difficulties. |

i prefer the Jesse Jackson approach.. take the little information we have from the media that was worded as poorly as we can and work up the masses until they riot.... lets storm the FNC and demand that he be kicked off the team - IndianaSabresFan

Of course they do... they won't let Canadians over with minor charges.
I know quite a few people that can't get over the border.
Because he is an athlete... I'm sure he will get special treatment though. |

He could have killed someone though. And that's why the law (and everyday people) take this kind of thing seriously... |

This. It's no different than when Kassian got into the bar fight years ago. There was talk then that he may not be able to cross the border, which for guys who play in the NHL, is a problem.
Usually the get the charges reduced to something that doesn't impede them from being able to cross and they go from there.
I would bet it gets reduced and he ends up paying some hefty fines and will have to do community service. |

But he didn't. Hey listen I know it's bad and doesn't look good for him or the Sabres, I would just prefer to see how this plays out and reserve judgement.
Besides, he could have been driving less than 20mph there when he hit the building. |

I don't drive if I have more then 4 beers, a maturity thing for me
I know 15 or so guys that drink 10 beers every time they are out and drive home. Every year one of them gets a DUI and cries about the fines.
They are lucky it was just a DUI, and so is ROR
How hard is it to call a cab, Kane had no problem calling one, he just had a problem with the tip. |

I seriously don't know how they managed to iron those situations out (well, one has to assume that money helps)... |

And hopefully comes into training camp apologetic and with his tail between his legs.
(frank)ing a$Shole.
I'm torn. As a Sabres fan, I don't want him missing any time. As a human being and family man (could have been someone sitting there, such as my wife or child) he needs his license suspended, fines and community service, and some game suspensions.

I know back in the late 70's when I was a young pup I did some dumb things, including driving home from the bar after a few too many.

He will be fine... just a bad decision.
NHL will give him a few games and he will do a lot of community service.
But... no licence for a year, then the machine will be put in his car.
My friend had one... it was horrible.
Blow into before the car could be started, then randomly after that.
