It was at 4AM... No one was sitting there. Certainly not a family
- bluengold12

You do realize the world never stops and people are always out and about. Just because no one was sitting there does not excuse ROR one bit. he needs to be punished if he was indeed driving under the influence.

To me it sounds like you agree with the NHL discipline policy. no one was hurt so no suspension necessary ( a free pass), if he does it again though in a certain time frame then watch out.

Im not sure how driving 50 in a 45 compares to driving under the influence. I hope cabby is not trying to make that comparison.

There is a reason people are pulled over at even the slightest sign of intoxication V someone driving "safely" at 5MPH over the limit.

playing down things that are still illegal, still irresponsible, and something you would be furious over should it happen to your family just because something didn't happen *this time* isn't how I want to live my life or what I want to pass on to my children.

That's not to say O'Reilly is guilty. Just because it was his vehicle and police found him and gave him a breathalyzer and he was "impaired" doesn't mean he did anything, but chances are some asshat did something illegal along those lines and it's still despicable.

That said, I'm not innocent either and have driven "impaired" before, but it also doesn't excuse me for doing it, and it's something I know I was poopty for doing

Here's the deal. I've seen the picture. It looks like he barley backed up into the spot. It was 4AM that's crucial and frankly it does matter that it didn't happen. A lot of things COULD happen what matters is reality not the fantasy of all the horrible things that COULD have happened. If he struck or injured someone I'd care a whole lot more. But I do think he should be fined and given community service. End it at that.

Unless you're my friends on facebook, then anything the Bills and Sabres do is pure gold, drunk driving and all.

He said his kids or wife could have been there... If your kid is sitting at a Tim Horton's at 4AM somethings wrong... Do we even know if the Tim Hortons was open?

Yeah I do agree with that policy and hopefully the NHL and Sabres don't suspend him. I think it was an airheaded thing to do and yeah he's a millionaire I get it no excuse. But a humbled sincere apology a little community service and a hefty fine and lets put this in the past and worry about beating the Senators on October 8th

I work partly in safety for my company. We penalize guys for driving at excessive speeds because they are considered a threat to the company's overall safety.

Should I just let all that go depending on time of day and location. Should I also just say, eh nothing happened everything is ok here.

So you have never woken up at 4AM for a 6AM flight? I have been at breakfast that early. Just because you don't. yea nothing happened, but you are failing to recognize the danger of the situation.

I hope the Sabres/league does suspend him.

No your failing to recognize the reality of the situation. Again was the Tim Hortons even open??? If it wasn't your point is completely moot.

The danger was the result of his decision to drive while under the influence. It doesn't matter whether he hit an open or closed Tim's or drove into a tree.
