I don't know what to tell you buddy but I don't think he should be suspended and that's that. I cant keep repeating the same thing over and over. - bluengold12
Should NHL players have free reign to drink and drive and not worry about their career, as long as they don't hurt anyone? its a yes or no answer. |

Oh your so cool... You made a quick out statement thinking you're smarter but in reality all you did was make a sly remark that made it seem like you were right. You didn't try and refute my point at all. - bluengold12
Again..he's all yours....
I think maybe you need to step away from screens for a bit. |

Murderers walk free among us. So do drug dealers, murderers in a roundabout way.
The kid (frank)ed up. Drank too much.
Shouldn't be a witch hunt, though. Let him pay his fine, take away his license, suspend him half dozen games, subject him to mandatory testing and/or alcohol counseling, etc. And hopefully he learns his lesson. - grand-magus
Sorry if you didn't realize we've traveled back into time to the 1600's in Salem where even a first time offender of a non human contact crime is thrown to wolves. |

Good chance it clicked mid-late season, but I agree, it didn't hurt in any way to send him back. I'd safely say he was key to that team's success this year since they were crap before he was sent down and they ended up making the playoffs.
I'm all for being patient with the development of anyone, especially your best players - stashu
Agreed. I think had he stayed he probably would have figured things out, but I think going back to Jr gave him the motivation to put in the extra work to add the strength that Murray wanted. He said in an interview that it was hard to put in the time in the gym at first because it wasn't his normal routine and he had to push himself to make it his norm. Kind of liked that he came out and said that. I think it's humbling that he was willing to admit that he's not perfect or a robot that just does what he's told. Good reminder that they're just kids when they're drafted. |

They should be held accountable to the same laws and convictions as everyone else. |

And with that, laws give companies and employer the right to suspend or terminate an employee.
I think everyone needs to maybe step away and realize...we're arguing about nothing. |

yes being suspended for a few games while still making 50 million dollars is being thrown to the wolves.
I wish I could get thrown to the wolves like that.... |

Yeah, and that's where I feel if he had stayed he would have been just fine. Being around the professionals would have likely gotten him in the groove quicker. however, it could also have been a bit of a slip too because at least this way he kind of got into it on his own, working through his head what he needed to do rather than just being dictated. |

If your going to suspend him for a first time non violent offense that's too harsh. That's all I'm saying. I'm not trying to throw a parade downtown for the guy. I just don't see the need for a suspension for the crime committed. Attacking my morality anymore isn't going to change that for me. |

I think it was important for him to go and do the work on his own. It probably validated the fact that they wanted him to do it when he started seeing results and then got easier for him to get up and put in the work.
Love that he took on a leadership kind of role in Dev. Camp as well. |

Meh, I even stated that there's no proof it was O'Reilly, but in general the act is what disgusts me and I wholeheartedly hope that he gets some form of suspension, as I think anyone would deserve from an employer, ESPECIALLY someone in an entertainment business (and in a union that has agreed to follow some sort of conduct policy). |

Just to clarify, I'm not saying what he did was nothing. Just that, legally, the courts can't suspend him from work so it's up to the NHL and/or Sabres to suspend if they choose to. Us arguing over whether he should or should not will not really effect that.
Here in the states, celebrities/pro athletes frequently receive lesser treatment for their crimes than the average joe. Wouldn't be surprised if RoR walks with a slap on the wrist. |

Wow we agreed on something. I know you think he should be suspended so we disagree on that. But on the fact that it will ultimately come down to the NHL and Sabres and not the court. |

If i recall, Mark Bell got a 15 game suspension, 90 days in jail and enrolled in the substance abuse program when it was him.
Not too sure how comparable the situations are, but that's the most recent one that i can think of... |

Actually, I stated earlier in the thread that suspending him would be setting a precedent that I don't think Gms want to go down. I think it needs to be made perfectly clear that what he did was unacceptable and won't be tolerated a second time.
Again, I wasn't really questioning your conclusion as much as I was questioning your reasoning. The whole "no one was hurt so it's not as bad" argument doesn't really fly. |
