I think the perception in the league is that Dallas is closer than Buffalo. They have two of the top ten points producers from last year. A solid goalie tandem. Spezza, Sharp ,Nichushkin aren't slouches either. Defense obviously needs work and they play in the western conference which is a lot harder than the east IMO but I think having those two top ten players makes it seem more attractive over say Buffalo who is seen as young and up in coming. Not say I agree but it's how I could see some players viewing the situation.

Than the Sabres right now? Absolutely. The Sabres have a bunch of unknowns all over their roster forward, defense, goaltending. The Stars have 2 of the best players in the game right now. Plus 2 really good (yet paying too much) goaltenders. Their biggest question is their blue line. Sure in 2 years we hope differently but as of right now the Stars are much closers. The Sabres are coming off back to back last place finishes.

I've never been but have been told from friends from Texas it's nothing special. Just big with some good expensive restaurants. Yeah better weather and more of a large market but that's about it in terms of hockey attractiveness

Been widely speculated that its either us or Dallas with Boston being an outside chance. Most reporters are speculated Dallas has the inside chance but that Buffalo is a serious contender.

I'd like to think it could help rip, never know. I did read earlier today that Sharp is putting on the full court press to get Oduya in big D.

Been to Austin several times, great city, especially the local music scene on 5th street. San Antonio is great too.
