meszaros
3 best out there IMO if you remove the hoff - homiedclown
Yikes
Slim pickins
No to Meszaros, unless he signs for super cheap so MAYBE we can turn him into a pick at the deadline
I'd be ok with Zidlicky, but I couldn't see him as part of the future here. Just a fill in and possible trade piece |

I guess I thought more highly of him than you
Also,
We have MANY other prospects I'd have rather moved
Fasching, Carrier, Karabacek, Cornel & Hurley come to mind
Compher would've at least been a solid player for us on the 3rd or 4th line, and played wing for us
Is giving up a 3rd liner a big deal?
No, not really
But a strong bottom6 can be the difference between last years rangers & pens
How big a role did Boston's 4th line play in their Cup win?
I'd just rather have moved other guys
Kid is Captain of Michigan for a reason
Plays hard, plays right, is talented, and can skate
I want guys like that on my team - jdfitz77
We needed to keep wingers, not to mention our winger prospects are good at something not just jack of all trades but not a master of anything like Compher |

How exactly is Luca Sbisa a great name. - TheSabresTaco
Young guy, decent talent... Still can improve...
I didn't see him lastvyearcreally though,
Did he totally fall apart?
From the reactions of a few here it seems I missed something |

Most NHL wingers are centers at some point & get moved over
Compher actually played wing last year
Of the guys I mentioned...
ONLY Fasching is a guy of describe as having a discernible talent, and that's in front of the net... But I hate his skating
What do u say that Karabacek, Cornel, Hurley (center, btw) & Carrier are "masters" of?
And for the record...
I'd say Compher is a "master" at leadership & hard work, which u can never have too much of
He also projects to be a very good PK guy
And has the talent and skating ability to produce somewhat offensively
I like his scrappy play also
Obv, the AVs liked him as much as I do |

he's just not that good. He's like a trade throw in if you're looking for defensive depth. He is by no means a reliable top 4. |

He's pretty much the same type of guy as Meszaros. Doesn't seem like a good idea to give up assets for a guy that isn't any better than one you can sign in free agency. |

honestly if they do not get zidlicky or make a trade, mccabe makes the team for second team pp IMO |

NJ is in an issue where they have not reached the cap floor. They need celery on any trade they make.
If they are going to re-build. Why would they trade 23 year old John Merrill and not Andy Greene. But trading Greene removes 5MM and they would need 5MM+ back. - ImThatGuy
I haven't looked at what they have in their system...
But they can rebuild while still trading young players
It seems like they're trying to revamp their image & be more offensive, so maybe trade some defense for some offense?
Larsson + a Carrier & another forward prospect or pick?
Giving up one good asset, for multiple assets is done quite often |

Right. Fasching and Compher have shown that they will likely have a level of success at the NHL level already. The rest of those guys have not yet shown the ability to play in the NHL yet because they're more or less raw 'skill' guys. Karabacek is actually quite talented, his knock is inconsistency.. same with Cornel. Hurley is a very quality play maker that's just going to need to physically develop and get better in his own zone. So yeah, those 3 are all projects. Despite their draft position, as mentioned previously. |

not a problem, not a long term solution
I have no problem if they add him to keep mccabe down |

Wow...
Ok, scratch that idea then
Hmmm
Seems to me we are gonna have to wait until closer to the season, or possibly even next season for Murray to fill in some of these holes
We aren't a Cup team NOW, so there's no real rush
I'm guessing he'll wait for the RIGHT deal to come along
In the meantime,
Maybe we get a guy like Day in next years draft? |

Their system is the worst. That team needed to tear down the second Zach Parise left. They have a bunch of grey beards and cast off free agents patchworking their team together, with a few mediocre kids and a pair of decent kids on D. Their prospect system is absolutely ugly. |

Ok, I can agree with most of that
But it still doesn't mean that some could project Karabacek as a 2nd/3rd liner & Compher as a 4th
Regardless of their stage of development,
I'd think most GMs are looking 5years down the line when they trade for 19-20 year olds
And I'd much rather have Compher than Fasching
His skating really bothers me, it's bad
Sabres should hire whoever has been working with Bailey to work with Fasching
Bailey (BC of skating) went from a pick I was on the fence about, to my TOP Sabres prospect
He looked REALLY good, and FAST on Thursday, esp for a guy his size |

Respectfully disagree. Sbisa is bad. Just ask any Canucks fan. If they could give him away for a bag of pucks, they would. Hamhuis (another lefty) on the other hand is more interesting to me.
