mhp's team is the Red Sox (I'm pretty sure...), and he's vocal about baseball on here once in a while, that's why I pointed him out. - stashu
For the Braves:
Aaron,Chipper,Maddux,Spahn
Glavine a close 5th.
So essentially I agree with what MLB did. |

So is this the 4 best Red Sox of all time?
Hmmmmm
Ted Williams, no brainer
Also Roger Clemens
Probably Wade Boggs, man could that guy hit. Still can believe he or Tony Gwynn never has a .400 season
Then who?
I'm prob forgetting some old guys...
Idk that any of the guys on their recent World Series teams stick out...
Ortiz actually
He was the bar in their lineup that out them over the top, and he's still there unlikel Manny & many others
Was Carlton Fisk there long enough? I remember him more on the white sox
Jim Rice comes to mind, but considering the Series wins I'd say Ortiz over him, and there's gotta be a bunch of older guys I'm forgetting
I guess I'll go...
Williams, Clemens, Boggs, Ortiz
Who got picked?
And who would u out on their Mount Rushmore?

All this makes sense to me
Thursday, I thought he moved great... Esp for a big guy...
Didn't let one shot past him, But he was having all kinds of trouble with rebounds
I couldn't understand it
What u said sheds light on it though
Not so much his agility, or quickness... But technique in HOW he moves
Good post sir
Hopefully he can work on that, BC he is big & talented
Those rebounds really stuck out to me too though - jdfitz77
Basically it is a technical change that needs to be made and could take years to perfect. It's a tough change as clearly he has never done shuffles before and it remains to be seen as to whether he can change his style and can have the fast feet required to play this way.
If you watched Kasdorf you saw how a goalie should be playing. Always in position and square to the shooters due to his shuffling and skating. Kasdorf makes every save look easy and doesn't give up bad rebounds because of his positioning.
edit: Petersen also does this weird thing where he leans over forwards a lot, thus throwing off his balance even more |

I knew there was someone, ugh

Really?
I think Ortiz almost has to be on there
He was the piece that out them over the top. Pretty sure they got him off waivers from Minny (wow)...
With the CURSE & not winning the Series such an issue for the franchise, I can see his status being elevated, esp since he's been there for ALL of them
Has any other recent player?
Not that I can think of |

If we're talking strictly the best 4 in history (not necessarily what they are remembered for) than I don't how Delgado and Carter make that list.
What Halladay and Bautista have done for the franchise in this century is key. Alomar is a no doubter, and Bell ranks 3rd among all time jays in home runs and 2nd in RBI's. And there's that minor tid bit where he's the only jays player to win an MVP award. |

Not much of a baseball fan anymore (but was a HUGE fan as a kid - moreso than hockey), but I just watched MLB's picks for the "Franchise Four" - the 4 faces of each franchise.
I found it funny that Nolan Ryan was on 3 of the teams in the video. Vlad Guerrero also made two teams which was weird. Barry Bonds showing up was a surprise, especially since none of the other steroid people were (McGwire, A-rod, Canseco).
mhp, who would you pick as the 4 for your team - just wondering if yours would be different than what they chose, especially since there was 1 they chose that I didn't like at all. - stashu
I think it was fan votes that determined each team's 4, which might explain Bonds. I think a lot of people still pretend he didn't cheat.
As for my team (Braves): I'd pick Hank Aaron, Chipper Jones, and Greg Maddux as locks (in that order, even). I'm torn between Dale Murphy and John Smoltz for number 4. It's hard for me to pick because I was very young (or not alive) for almost all of Murphy's career, but I am familiar with how good he was on terrible teams. Smoltz has the recency bias, and he was a badass.
I know Warren Spahn made the MLB list for the Braves, but he never played in my lifetime (and he isn't Hank Aaron) so I can't really pick him, despite his reputation as one of the greatest pitchers ever. Spahn is a Buffalo native, though, so that's pretty cool. |

I'm a big Braves fan...gotta have Maddux in there. The only NL pitcher to win 4 Cy Youngs in a row, and 3 of those were with the Braves. |

If you're strictly talking faces, and not necessarily best ever, I'd think Robinson has to be there |

I believe Petersen/Johansson have more natural ability than Kasdorf. But Kasdorf has the best positioning by far. I only saw the 3v3 and to be fair I wasn't counting goals, but I did notice Petersen get sniped bc his angle was off whereas Kasdorf seemed solid. I recall Kasdorf getting caught unawares on an Eichel shot that beat him from a bad angle. |
