He didn't choose the almighty Sabres. It's not like we're 30th place 2 years running, oh wait.

We'll be improved next year but Dallas is a much better bet at this point

I think Jeter was great, yet super overrated.....confusing yes....was he a great player, sure, but IMO he shouldn't be in the same sentence as Mantle.
- Homer

Hmmmm
I'm NOT a Yankees fan, at all
But Jeter might be the best SS of all-time
He's not definitely ahead of Mantle,
But I do think there's an argument there
Esp considering position, and how he stacks up all-time at tht spot

So you have a hockey background? Not calling you out or anything, legitimately asking.
- Homer

Yup. Goaltender my whole life. As my playing career is becoming less and less relevant I like to focus on potential guys who could made it. I figured I could offer a view around here that not many could

Took much less money and shorter term to go play for Lindy?
- dadeadhead

Sounds to me like he has no interest in being in either Dallas or Buffalo very long.

The Sabres are still a long ways away from contention. If you want to win now, they're not your best bet. I'm not sure Dallas is either, but they're further along than Buffalo is.

We'll if they get goaltending,
They make the playoffs next year & we don't
He made a sart choice IMO
Esp for only 2 years
If it was a 4-5year deal...
Then maybe we've leaped ahead of them by then
But Dallas is on the way up
They won't be regressing

Probably knows he'll be traded at the deadline when Dallas is out of it....

edit: To a contender

Spahn is the 2nd greatest Brave in their history.

Spahn and Sain and pray for rain.

Missed 3 years do to military service.

He was getting MVP votes as a 42 year old.

Is 6th in all time wins (#1 by a left hander)

- dadeadhead

I understand why he was picked, and I am certain he deserved to be among the 4 for the Braves. In fact, the official 4 chosen by the MLB are the ones that I think should have been picked.

But, if I'm picking my personal 4, Spahn wouldn't make my list because I just don't have the personal experience and knowledge to make that pick for myself. I know, factually speaking, how good he was, but he doesn't pop into my head when I think about faces of the Braves franchise. The other guys I mentioned do. Of course, that's all product of my age and the teams I actually got to watch.

I wouldn't have put Jeter ahead of Ozzie Smith, Barry Larkin, or Robin Yount honestly.

Honus Wagner

I don't like that pick though because it was before "everyone" was allowed to play...

Ya, Rip & Honus Wagner are right there. Ozzie Smith too I'd say.
Can't really think of too many others that stand out to me though.
If u ordered those 4 in any way I would be ok with it
Jeter (IMO), get the nod BC of all the World Series

Just looked at that list
I'm surprise Ozzie wasn't higher, although I've never heard of 4 or 5, lol

Yount move to the OF for like half his career if I remember right?
