I wouldn't rush that - SABRES 89
True on both. Wonder if Franson has offers in hand he's pondering or if the trail is cold and he can be had at a discount? He signed one year deals the last 3 years so imagine wants something longer. I imagine the offer we made to JO would secure him but who knows what GMTM thinks of Cody?? |

1 year 6 million would be a perfect stop gap for us until McCabe is ready. Prob is out there because wants the long contract but teams can't afford it.
This is how I think the salary cap will effect the league. It won't go to lockout. You'll just see the top players get paid and middling players unable to get big contracts because the rest of the cap is tied up in a teams best 4-5 players. A league of haves and have nots.

Hard to say if he takes a 1 year deal, someone will give him a multi year deal he wants a Jeff Petry type contract I was reading. |

But Franson is arguably better or at least equal to Oduya and Sekera and they got paid |

Weird why he isn't signed yet. Maybe he thinks he's worth more then sekera. I wouldn't say oduya got paid, his contract is a pretty reasonable real for a vet D.

I think Petry got 6 years and 5.5 or 6 a year. |

I don't know if I would make that kind of a long term commitment to franson. I think we can do 3 but I am not sure about 6. The dollars I don't think matter if it's less than 4 years. I know pegula doesn't want to piss away money but I don't think he is that bad. Just want to have options after 3 years. |

Just in:
Dihren Mahiban of the NY times and pro hockey news says buffalo is pursuing Cody Franson. Boston and Pittsburgh also interested. Suppose it comes down to money vs. Better chance of winning again (atleast in the case of PIT) |

The Leaf fans on this site want to get rid of him.
I know that is not saying much, but they watch him a lot more than us. |
