Flyers draft Dmitri Sokolov with their 1st round pick next year. He teams with Vorobyov and Provorov and leads the Flyers to the Stanley Cup, there by filling Ed Snider with unstable levels of happiness and rage and thus causing his heart to explode.
If only they could steal Zaitsev from Toronto next summer. |

Agree with your point that Morin showed encouraging growth on the o-side this season, but it's just really tough to compare across leagues like that.
Better to compare him to his peers in the Q:

Very interesting stats. I think San Jose got a steal by nabbing J Roy at #31 this year. If the Flyers had taken a forward at #7, I would have liked to take him or Juulsen at #29.
If Provy and Sanheim both go back to Junior they could be first and second on this list for 15-16.

I'm missing something I think.
(The quotes are not working again).
There is an interesting read by Malcolm Gladwell called "Outliers" that attempts to explain January babies success in professional sports and in general. I do not necessarily agree with the author, but his premise is that since junior sport is leveled by age groups the kids that are born in the beginning of the year have advantage over the kids born closer to the end of the year. So, for example, for U-12 hockey boys born in January may be bigger and more developed that boys born in December at the end of their eligibility for u-12 age group. Furthermore, the author postulates that that creates an advantage for January babies for the rest of their career.

Yup. Click on their names and you'll see they have AHL teams listed for 15-16. |

I've only seen Bowey play sparingly, but he seems like he may be the best player on that list. He's been very impressive so far. |

Question for Bill:
How long does Philadelphia own Vorobyov' draft rights? I know it's usually two years, and NCAA players get until they graduate, but what are the rules for KHL signed players?
I thought, for any country without a transfer agreement, it was basically forever? |

Ughhh... Its already been commented on.
There is no formal transfer agreement so no real time, but 4 years looks like the best answer.
Jeez. |

Im sure if he were 26 and not 33, the deal would have been a bit more lucrative.

Especially for a guy who is over 30 and on the obvious downside of his career.

4 years I could see....5 is pushing it, at least for me. 6 years? Those last two years, you're basically going all in at the gambling table; you're praying at that point this guy will still be close to the same player at that age.
He'll likely go first overall at the expansion draft |

Quick, now trade AMac for Kesler. At least we'll get two years of value. |

But since it isn't a over 35 contract he can retire without any problem. So maybe that is why they were ok going the extra years. |

This is a good point and true. I have a problem with the AAV as much as the years. But hey, at least it wasn't Philly giving out that contract.
