Anthony Giovi Are u (frank)in people serious?
He's scored 20 goals once, & his highest pt total is 57. And don't forget, he can't win any (frank)in faceoffs. He's not worth more than 5 mill. If he does get more in arbitration, they should really consider trading him to anybody they can & get someone who can maybe score 20 to 25 consistently. Because this greedy (frank) cant.

He's probably upset the Rangers chose to trade the "better goalie" to Edmonton too |

Jimmy Reilly the guy is entering his prime. No homegrown Ranger forward from age 20-25 has been this successful in his first 5 years since Rod Gilbert. You want to kick him to the curb over a million a year?

Brett Campion prime...? are you serious lol. he may be young but so is Teows and stamkos son lol. the dude isn't a #1 center hes a 2nd line center here.....i'm a ranger fan ok. he needs to prove more, he gets hurt a lot and he needs to be a 30 goal scorer for that money...so ya he's worth 5.5 a little better than average because that's honestly what hes proven to be in my eyes. we don't have a dominant center and you need one to win the cup so no he should take less and we should sign Semin or Fehr.

Jimmy Reilly he just turned 25 years old. He is entering his prime. What is so difficult to understand about that. And yes, he isn't Stamkos or Toews. Toews is being paid 10.5 million a year, and Stamkos will soon get a new contract even higher than that. So what are you talking about?

Brett Campion That was the playoffs he only missed one game. When you are an NHL hockey player on a team that has a shot to win the cup, u play with a broken jaw in a deep playoff game. That doesn't earn him extra $ in my book that earns my respect. And ya but he's nowhere near even Backstrom or kopitar, Getlfaf, Kessler, or even Nathan McKinnion....he's worth 5.5 mill. And that's generous. We don't have superstar center here, we have guys that get the job done yes but we shouldn't break the bank for them. He's an above average player...not a superstar. 7 million is superstar money sir. I like step but he's being greedy, I have seen no evidence of a breakout season or that he's in his prime. Is he consistent? Yes. Is that worth 6.5 or 7 million? No sir, it's worth good money which is 5.5 or 6 million at most.

Jimmy Reilly wait, lets stick by the "he gets hurt a lot" comment. I am still trying to figure that one out. And, we beat Backstrom all the time in the playoffs, not sure if you are aware

Jimmy Reilly I actually don't think you understand the term "in his prime". Maybe because the Rangers have never had a 25 year old forward about to bust out. We have always gone out and bought 31 year olds from other organizations, not entirely your fault

Brett Campion He does get hurt a lot....he missed a pretty good amount of games this season too right? And Backstrom is an above avg. player like step so therefore should be paid about 5 million...6 max. It's a team effort the caps have 2 players lol. And sir....I'm a life long ranger fan. I know everything watch your tone. What are u his (frank)in agent? Sit down...we are strapped for cash, step is a decent player. 7 million is way way greedy and he knows it. And look at our team we're actually pretty young. Krieder, Mac, fast, miller, Hayes....I suggest you stop right here.

I wouldn't give too much Kudos to Gorton just yet. I think he did a good job and better than I thought he would however he did make one mistake. He needed Miller to sign a two year deal not a one year deal, even if he had to give him a raise in the second year it would have been worth it. This hole now leaves Gorton to sign Stepan at no higher than 5.5M and next year you will have Kreider, Miller and Yandle to sign. Guess who we lose here? A player you don't want to lose. Yandle is a big time play maker on D who I don't think Rangers fans have seen play enough. Yandle stats speak for themselves on how good he is and just getting used to AV system started to come alive in the playoffs. I know Boyles money comes off next year however it may not be enough to keep all three and that would just suck!!! |

It's not that simple.
The Rangers had to give Miller a qualifying offer. If they don't, he becomes an UFA on July 1st. They gave him one as was necessary and instead of declining it, Miller accepted it. Nothing we could do. |

If Miller wants to remain with NYR he'll get re-signed next year. They'll shed the cost of Moore and Diaz and Stalberg, if not Glass and McIlrath, too, (unless this season McIlrath shows he's worth holding onto) next year as well. No guarantee the cap goes up next year, but it's unlikely to go down. Gorton will back-fill from within the organization and supplement with cheap adds in FA. He's been doing this for Sather for at least a couple of years now. |
